IMPORTANT NOTE: First hour AND sixth hour both received a VERY GOOD report from the substitute; therefore, first hour and sixth hour testers do NOT have to do the CER part.

YOU MUST REMAIN VERY QUIET AS LONG AS STUDENTS ARE NWEA TESTING!

READ ALL THIS:

  • My aunt, Lillie Cecelia Dobert, passed away during the early hours of Tuesday morning.  I will be absent TOMORROW for the funeral.
  • You MUST stay in your assigned seats whenever you have a substitute.  I will be asking my teacher squad friends to randomly check in and make sure you are in your assigned seats.
  • As I’ve been telling you since September … there WILL be THREE BIG TESTS coming soon in ELA class.  Some students will not have to take these tests.
    • reading test (QAR) = 100 points
    • writing test (essay) = 100 points
    • surprise mystery test = 100 points
  • You shouldn’t be shocked that there are final exams at the end of the year.  This will be a normal part of your life in high school and college.
  • If you are NWEA testing today, you must sit ALONE!
  • If your NWEA tests are finished AND your B-W is finished AND you are done with ALL SEVEN pages of your composition book, you are free to choose something quiet to work on.

B-W  (You DO NOT have to do this B-W if you are still NWEA testing.)

[loose leaf]

Write ONE long, strong, interesting sentence that includes a person, a place, a thing, and an idea or feeling.   Circle the person.  Underline the place. Draw a box around the thing.  Double underline the idea or feeling.

IF YOU’RE NOT SURE HOW TO DO THIS B-W, READ THE HW PAPER FROM LAST NIGHT!

CW1: Continue/complete your NWEA READING test.

CW2: Continue/complete your NWEA LANGUAGE test.

CW3: Show me that you have finished ALL SEVEN pages in your composition book. Click the link at the top of the blog to read the directions for all seven pages.

CW4: Choose something VERY QUIET to work on.

HW:

  • BRING YOUR LIBRARY BOOK TO CLASS ON FRIDAY!
  • YES … YOU WILL GET POINTS JUST FOR BRINGING YOUR BOOK TO CLASS.

YOU MUST GET PERMISSION FROM THE TEACHER IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT.

IF YOU ARE STILL NWEA TESTING, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO TODAY’S B-W.

If you’re not finished with your NWEA READING test and NWEA LANGUAGE test, that is what you should work on today. Only testing students need a bathroom break.  Don’t ask until at least 20 minutes after the class start time.

IF YOU ARE FINISHED WITH BOTH NWEA TESTS, CHOOSE FROM THE FOLLOWING:

  • Watch EDUCATIONAL videos on YouTube.  Take notes on loose leaf as you watch/listen.
  • Rest with your head down.

  • Choose something quiet to work on.

  • Write at least a half page.
  • DO NOT SKIP LINES.

Hi. I hope you’re having a great day. First, you must finish your NWEA READING test.  Then, you must finish your NWEA LANGUAGE test. I woke in the middle of the night, and I was feeling pretty sick, so I’m not in a great mood today.  A lot of good NWEA scores would help. If you do have your planner, drop your name into the green water pitcher.  If you don’t have your planner, drop your name into the red star.  Because it’s “Friday”, we MIGHT stop a little early today (if everyone is being serious during NWEA testing). If you want to play reading football or trashketball, etc. drop your name into the navy blue French roast coffee box. If your NWEA READING level AND your NWEA LANGUAGE level is 7th grade or higher, you may have VERY QUIET free time today. If BOTH your reading and language scores went UP, you may have VERY QUIET free time today.  You must stay in your assigned seat unless the teacher gives you permission to move. If you’re in Mr. Dobert’s fourth hour class, do NOT drop your name at all today. If you’re done with BOTH of your NWEA tests, you could quietly read a book or practice on IXL or check your grade on StudentConnection. Take your composition book home with you if you want to get a head start on all the pages and finish your composition book early and not have to worry about it during the last week of school. There will be a new page every day of the break. If you do all the pages, it could really help your grade! I love rainy days, but only on school days. For extra credit today, you could find all the words in the science word search (use a highlighter) then write a short, funny story that uses at least eleven of the words from the word search. Have a great weekend! 🙂

5 MINUTE BATHROOM BREAK: I will probably give you a 5 minute bathroom break if I see you quiet and focused and serious today.

YOU MUST HAVE PERMISSION TO LEAVE YOUR ASSIGNED SEAT.

B-W:

  • Log in to your StudentConnection and find the testing section.
  • Be ready to show me your NWEA LANGUAGE score from January, 2019.
  • KEEP THIS TAB OPEN ON YOUR CHROMEBOOK UNTIL I WRITE DOWN YOUR SCORE!

CW1:

  • Continue/complete your NWEA READING test.

CW2:

  • Continue/complete your NWEA LANGUAGE test.

IMPORTANT INFO:

If you finish your NWEA READING test during the last 30 minutes of class, AND your score was successful, you may have VERY QUIET free time for the rest of classtime today and start your NWEA LANGUAGE test tomorrow.

6th HOUR ONLY: Because so many students are absent today, we MIGHT stop a little early.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be finished with NWEA READING and NWEA LANGUAGE before the break?  Then you can focus on NWEA SCIENCE next week.  THAT DOESN’T MEAN RUSH TOO FAST, BUT PLEASE DON’T WASTE TIME!
