READING SKILL – COMPARE AND CONTRAST
Comparing and contrasting characters can help you better understand a story. When you compare two or more people or things, you look for ways they are similar. When you contrast them, you look for ways they are different. AFTER you read the first section of “Amigo Brothers,” note similarities and differences between Felix and Antonio in a VENN diagram. You should have AT LEAST three ideas in each part of the VENN diagram (9 total answers), but 5 in each part would be better.

because the sentences are from paragraph 8 of “The Sea Wolf”, and paragraph 8 is NOT the end of the action. For example, there’s a lot of action in paragraph 11 when the three men leap onto the Ghost.
because the sentences are from paragraph 8 of “The Sea Wolf”, and Oofty-Oofty jumps from the small boat onto the big ship in paragraph 12.

HW:
Neatly copy question #1 from page 90 onto a fresh sheet of loose leaf paper. Also copy the four possible answers. Then switch to a colored pencil and use QAR to answer the question on your loose leaf. Do NOT write on page 90 or underline evidence in both texts … YET.
Of course, FIRST you should read the ending of “The Snow Cave” (page 89).

CHOICE ONE: On a fresh sheet of computer paper, draw this and color it. Do this ONLY if you’re a great artist or want to become one.

On loose leaf, copy the summary of Chapter 18 and Chapter 26.
