IF I SEE YOU QUIETLY STUDYING THE WHOLE HOUR, YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE QUIZ TOMORROW! 🙂
STUDY GUIDE – MUST BE DONE IN ORDER
- Be quiet and serious and focused the whole hour.
- Read BOTH sides of the debate. Take your time. You should probably read with a partner or small group. Take turns reading and stop to discuss.
- Identify for BOTH sides of the debate:
- claim (underline)
- 2 pieces of evidence (star)
- counterargument (circle)
- rebuttal (double star)
- VOCABULARY – Make quick flash cards for the 7 vocabulary words. These cards should be neat but do not need to be colored, etc. Study the definitions and spelling and practice writing sentences on loose leaf. Make sure your definitions match the context of the article.
- ANNOTATIONS: You must write THREE tough questions for the YES side of the debate and THREE tough questions for the NO side of the debate (six total questions).
- [loose leaf] Who made a better argument, Jeremy or Alicia? Use evidence from the article in your answer.
- Research more interesting information about Fortnite. Write a few facts on loose leaf.
- If you have time, you should read the article AGAIN. There might be one or two very difficult extra credit questions to see if you know EVERY detail that was in the text.
- You may ask for a winter fresh mint 20 minutes before the end of class.
- YOU MIGHT NOT GET THROUGH ALL OF THIS IN CLASS TODAY, BUT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT I SEE YOU TRYING.
IF YOU HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY STUDYING THE WHOLE TIME YOU MAY TAKE A FIVE MINUTE BREAK.
BREAK CHOICES (you may only choose ONE of these):
(Do NOT disrupt anyone while you take your break.)
1. Listen to music and/or play a game on your chromebook (with headphones).
OR
2. Take a bathroom/water break.
OR
3. Walk around the classroom and stretch; put your head out the window and take a few deep breaths of fresh air.
ONE MORE THING:
If you know you failed yesterday’s exit ticket, you may try again today.
ONE MORE THING:
Don’t forget Composition Book page 2 (directions were on iBlog yesterday).
