“Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto

Plot Project

On a large piece of paper (or a poster), create a plot mountain shape and include important details from in the story in the correct places on the mountain.

GOOD: Neatly draw a mountain shape.

BETTER: Neatly draw something different that has the same shape as a mountain (example – roller coaster).

BEST: Neatly draw a plot shape that MATCHES something in the story (example – water fountain).

  • Label titles for each part of the mountain.
  • Include details from the story, “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto. HINT: Use bullets.
    • At least 2 for EXPOSITION.
    • At least 2 for RISING ACTION.
    • Only 1 for CLIMAX.
    • 1 or 2 for FALLING ACTION.
    • 1 for RESOLUTION.
  • Spelling counts.
  • Neatness counts.
  • Color counts.
