No Google Meet this Week!

Good afternoon, families! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. This week we will continue with assignments being posted on Google classroom. Check the blog daily for new work. As you may have heard, there have been some issues using Google Meets with it not being as secure as anticipated. For this reason, we are no longer able to hold live class meetings. Our district is looking into alternate ways to hold live meetings using other resources. Therefore, there will not be a class meeting tomorrow. I truly enjoyed seeing everyone’s faces and hearing your voices. As always, if you have questions, please email me and I will get back with you as soon as possible. Below, you will see assignments for the week.

Important Information about Remote Learning

I hope everyone is in good health!  Dearborn Public Schools has finalized our remote learning plan. This plan officially begins on April 20th (today). In the plan, teachers are expected to post weekly assignments for math, reading, social studies, science, and spelling. The students are expected to complete all of the assignments in each subject area. Please see Dr. Maleyko’s video here  https://youtu.be/BBF9D4DigPE. Ms. Fatme Faraj discusses some of the comprehensive plans we now have in place to keep students learning and how fourth quarter report card grades will be handled.  The teacher will provide feedback in a prompt manner. All of the assignments will be documented and used for grades at the end of the year. In order to receive a meeting expectations grade, your child  will submit all assignments and attend most check ins via Google Hangout. Google Hangout invitations will arrive in your child’s email this week, so please look for them. Look on the Blog for dates and times for Google Hangout as well.

In order to make it easier to submit assignments in an efficient way, I have created assignments in Google Classroom. Eventually all subject areas will be housed in Google Classroom. Reading, Math, Spelling/Word Work, and Writing assignments will be posted in Google Classroom this week. Please make every attempt to use this platform. Science and Social Studies assignments will need to be submitted by email this week. If you have any questions about Google Classroom you can email me. This should be a very engaging way of learning for all students!

I look forward to seeing all of you during our Google Hangout check in! I miss you and hope all of you are safe.
