Special Area Assignments
4/20-4/24
Each day, students should focus on one special area. Our special area classes are a great opportunity for students to get a break from core subjects, supplement core subjects, and enrich their lives. We will collect and grade work on a weekly basis.
Monday – Enrichment
Tuesday – Art
You may choose to complete an art iLearn course OR to complete an art project from my blog https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/homeart/ . The current iLearn courses are Self Portraits (enrollment code 5xdqty ) which will have projects for three weeks, or Digital Art (enrollment code 6xkf6w ) which has projects for two weeks. More information about how to enroll in an iLearn course can be found here . The iLearn courses have multiple projects in them, so they will take more than one week. If you choose a project off of my blog, you should do one new project every week. New projects are added every week. When you have finished your project you can email me a photo at brucep1@dearbornschools.org or message me a photo of it on Dojo. I am hosting a Google Hangout for Kindergarten, first, and second grades at this link on Tuesdays from 2:00-2:45 where you can come to ask questions about the art projects, show me what you have created, or just to hangout! Feel free to also email me or message on Dojo with any further questions.
Wednesday – Media
You will find your assignment in Google Classroom and it is titled Space Story 2020. You will find a YouTube video done by Ms. Hansen the media specialist from Oakman school telling you how this should be done. There will be a story to listen to and you will create a picture of a person in space that relates to your story that you will create on a slide. The link to click to get to Google Classroom is through Clever on the student homepage of Dearbornschools.org. Remember that on my blog I have all the links that you need. (hint: If you make a mistake and turn in your assignment too soon you can unsubmit it yourself to fix it and then turn it in when done.)
Thursday – Music
This week, begin by watching Mrs. Lograsso read and discuss the book “Acoustic Rooster”. You can find the video here.
Each character in the book is based on a real-life jazz musician. Please go to YouTube and find a song by one of the musicians that you like. Think about why you like it. Fill out the form here to show me the song you found and tell me why you like it!
Here are the musicians from the story:
Thelonius Monk, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, and Billy Holiday
Links can always be found on my blog at https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/geerparkmusic/. I am always available by email at lograsm@dearbornschools.org. I will be holding office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to noon. Email me to set up a phone call or video chat during that time.
