Continuity of Learning Plan

DuVall Community,

The staff and I miss you all and hope that you and your families are doing well, staying healthy, and staying safe.  As our journey with remote learning continues, our district has created a continuity of learning plan that enhances the remote learning curriculum that is being delivered at DuVall Elementary.  Starting April 20th, some updates will be taking place. Classroom teachers will continue checking in with their classes using Google Hangouts or Class Dojo and there will be at least 2 live or recorded lessons that will be scheduled during the week.  Classroom teachers and Extended Core teachers will be posting office hours on their blog to support families with questions or who need support with the curriculum. Also, a new grading system will be implemented for the 4th marking period in order to provide feedback for the learning that is taking place.  In the updated grading system, the following marks will be used:

Meeting (M):  A student has high participation levels in remote learning, is routinely submitting assignments and completing learning tasks, and is regularly attending check in/ remote learning sessions.

Progressing (P):  A student is submitting most of his or her assignments and attending some of the check ins.

Limited Participation (LP):  A student is rarely or not submitting work, rarely or not attending check-in/ remote learning sessions, or has experienced hardship during the time of instruction.  Support to assist students who are showing limited participation in remote learning will be offered.

Click Here to see a video clip that  helps to explain some of the changes in the 4th marking period.

Extended core classes (Art, Music, Physical Education, and Technology) will now be using the updated grading system for the 4th marking period report cards.  Please check the extended core class blogs for more information regarding learning activities:

Mr. Tapp (Physical Education)  E-Mail:  tappb@dearbornschools.org

Mr. Goecke (Art)    E-Mail: goeckea@dearbornschools.org

Mrs. Meyer (Music)   E-Mail: meyerl@dearbornschools.org

Mr. Keramaris (Music 4th and 5th)   E-Mail: keramae@dearbornschools.org

Mrs. Poisson (Technology)   E-Mail: poissom@dearbornschools.org

During this continuation of remote learning, the DuVall staff and I hope to see you all soon.  We hope that you and your family continue to stay healthy, safe, and Penguin Strong!

Sincerely,

Mr. Attee

Attention Fourth Grade

The following is a note from Mrs. Moon:

Hello Fourth Graders!I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. This week we will begin in a new routine for math. You will need to check my Google Classroom for Math Remote Learning everyday for your assignments. April 13th was the start of our new card marking and all the work you have been doing and will do is going on your next report card. YES, you are graded and will be getting another report card. I am so happy that Farrah, Lara, Quinn, and Sereen have been keeping up and working hard- great job friends! I need to see work from the rest you. You will also be joining my Science Remote Learning Google Classroom. I will be giving weekly assignments there as well. Again, please check daily and let me know any questions or concerns you have about your work. Here are the directions and codes for adding my classrooms (for those who have not joined yet). Stay safe and I will be checking in with you soon!

Google Classroom Codes

You will need to login to your google account (or CLEVER), using your school number and password – just like on the Chromebooks in class. You need to go to Google Classroom – click on the + sign in the corner to add a class.

Reminders

Remember to check that all your Readworks articles are completed. I am going to be checking them and you will be able to check your grade. Also, your opinion writing about what pet you think would be best is due. I wonder who will win? Cats or Dogs? A couple of you shared with me already. I am excited to read them!

One more thing–Raz Kids

If you started on Raz Kids, it came to my attention, that books were starting at the wrong level. I have adjusted the level to fit each individual student.

Raz Kids

Raz Kids can now be utilized. I have put in your child’s information. They will go to raz kids and it will ask for their teacher. Students will put in alabakja. A screen will come up with their name and badge. After they click on their badge with name, it will ask for password. Their password is their birthday–just like they do when they login to their student accounts—two digits for month, two digits for day and four digits for year.

Have fun and read carefully!!

Reminders

I have noticed a lot of you working on your Readworks articles! I will be working on scoring them, so make sure you check your score to see how you did and what you did well or need to improve! Did you notice the article topics were cats and dogs (goes with your writing topic)? Remember that your opinion writing needs to be shared with me by Friday. Follow the steps and videos in the schedule carefully. They are helpful. Soon I will be doing a check in with you, so make sure you also check your email.

Sorry, but found out that the logins on the schedule belong to Mrs. Cibasek’s class. We are working together on Third Grade scheduling. Just continue to use the our logins. All of you have been logging into Readworks, Zearn and Freckle correctly with our logins.
