  • Our story this week was Bees Like Flowers by Rebecca Bielawski. This story gives fun facts about the important work bees do in nature.
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of May is Life Science, Insects and How They Grow. We continue to exploring all kinds of bugs and each of their life cycles.
  • Field day at Edsel Ford did not disappoint. Always a fun time for us!
  • Our quails have moved to the quail farm. All 16 survived and are ready for their new adventure. Cuddly or delicious?!?! I do not want to know….

Happy Birthday ADAM!!!!!

  • Our story this week was The Very Lonely Firefly by Eric Carle. In this story, a very lonely firefly is looking for friends like him. He is drawn to several different kinds of lights before he finds his friends that make lights just like him.
  • We made our own fireflies that light up!
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of May is Life Science, Insects and How They Grow. We continue to exploring all kinds of bugs and each of their life cycles.
  • Our quail eggs hatched! We have 16 babies. 15 are thriving and 1 is in the quail ICU.
  • The Creative College students put on an end of the year carnival for the students. So much fun for every one!

Newsletter for the week of May 12th

  • Our story this week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. In this story, a very hungry caterpillar eats his way through a number of foods during the course of a week. Finally, he enters his cocoon and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. This wonderful book addresses number sequences, quantity concepts, the days of the week, fool labels, as well as the stages of a butterfly’s life. The children used a button to read, “but he was still hungry.”
  • We made a great big caterpillar addressing all the concepts stated above
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of May is Life Science, Insects and How They Grow. We will be exploring all kinds of bugs and each of their life cycles.
  • Our quail eggs are developing beautifully. We peeked inside a few of them with a bright light. So exciting for us.
  • We had a perfect day of play at the park. We all had a great time

  • Our story this week was Are You My Mother? . The children had a good time getting ready to preform the story for the Mothers for Mother’s Day.
  • Our math focus this month is telling time and shape review

  • We became the proud parents to 24 quail eggs on Monday as we lovingly placed them into the incubator. They should hatch by May 22nd.  
  • On Wednesday, the Exotic Zoo came to our school. It was a beautiful spring day to enjoy the animals.

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was Planting a Rainbow by Lois Elhert. We are so excited for spring and all the glorious colors it brings back into our lives.
  • Our math focus this month is telling time and shape review
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of May is Life Science, Insects and How They Grow. We will be exploring all kinds of bugs and each of their life cycles.
  • Our wonderful principal bought us an incubator and next week we will become parents to 12 precious quail eggs. This is going to go perfectly to reinforce learning about life cycles. Baby chicks are way cuter than bugs. 
  • On Friday we had our Pizza Party, with our 2nd grade buddies, from the principal for winning the reading contest for March is Reading month. We read a combined total 20.5 hours in school for the month of March. WE LOVE TO READ

Mother’s Day Tea will be on 5/9 @ 2:00 RSVP by May 5th please with yes or no

ABC Count Down

Our ABC count down start on Thursday, May 1st. The schedule of events were sent home on Wednesday. I will post the count down here as well for your reference.

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was, Little Excavator by Anna Dewdney. This story was a big hit with the children as we explore tools and construction this month.
  • We made muddy pudding and ran our construction trucks all through the mud. The kids had a blast and then we ate what was left over.
  • Each student made their own tool box as they identified hammer, screwdriver, saw and pliers correctly from an arry of 2 choices.
  • Our math focus this month is opposites. What’s Up Duck? is a great spring book to practice opposites.
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of April is Economics. We finished learn about tools and construction this week!
  • Our letter this week was the letter Zz

Classroom Changes

On Monday we welcome a new friend to our classroom family. Ayash just turned 3 this month. He is a happy little guy with a contagious laugh.

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was, Going on an Egg Hunt by Hands on Holiday Reading. We have so much fun with this story as it uses rhythms and hand movements of the classroom favorite We’re going on a Bear Hunt. This time it is eggs we are hunting for. It’s an ideal story for focusing on colors and spatial concepts and lending itself to all kinds of springtime fun. What child can resist an egg hunt? Certainly none of ours. So many giggles and laughs.
  • We made peep play dough to play with.
  • Our math focus this month is opposites. What’s Up Duck? is a great spring book to practice opposites.
  • The Unique Learning System topic for the month of April is Economics. We continue to learn about tools and construction which seems to be everywhere!
  • Our letter this week was the letter Yy
