FOR MONDAY 11/12

Fri-YAY 11/9

Please use this format exactly for your counterclaim:

**The example I wrote in the original slide (below) is a little more advanced than the one expected for class. If you are a more advanced writer and wanted to attempt a counterclaim like this, more power to ya!

**For Monday, PLEASE have the Introduction, 3 Body Paragraphs and Counterclaim paragraphs done. PLEASE.

Thursday 11/8

**Quiz tomorrow on Prefixes 11-15

For first hour: Model your counterclaim paragraph just like mine, but with your information.

Remember, it addresses the opposing claim and then proves why it is wrong.

Wednesday 11/7

Today we:

*4 paragraphs MUST BE DONE TOMORROW. Introduction and 3 Body. If the paragraphs are not finished, you will be ZAPed and will report to the ZAP room on Friday (and any subsequent day needed to complete the work) at lunch.

**YOU NEED A SILENT READING BOOK TOMORROW (just like every day)

***A note about in class work and homework.  Over the past few days and weeks I can honestly say I have been very disheartened by the lack of effort and care put into the work done by many of my students. Most (and that is not an exaggeration) are not completing homework on time. Homework is to be done at home and completed for the next day. I do not just pile on work and assign homework. Students have homework when work is not finished in class. To that end, so many students are wasting time in class, worrying more about others and what they are doing than focusing on themselves and the work they have to accomplish. This needs to end. Good, quality work needs to be produced. Students (you) need to listen the first time directions are given so that not so much time is wasted repeating myself. Overall, most of us need to do better. We owe it to ourselves to have high standards of quality work and to strive to be our best. We also need to give everyone a chance to work in a supportive, productive and positive environment.

Monday 11/5 No School Tomorrow!

Here is what my example introduction looks like in the graphic organizer:

Paragraph #1 (Introduction)

Hook: (Capture the reader’s attention)

“Hail! to the victors valiant. Hail! to the conqu’ring heroes. Hail! Hail! to Michigan
the leaders and best. Hail! to the victors valiant. Hail! to the conqu’ring heroes.
Hail! Hail! to Michigan, the champions of the West!” The Michigan fight song, The Victors, says it all.
