Wayne County Regional Enhancement Education Millage Proposal

School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Continue reading

Good Morning Families,

The children did a wonderful job with the Talking Zoo yesterday. They worked so hard on it! Thank you so much for all your help and support at home.

Just a couple of quick reminders. Today is Popcorn Day and the money raised from the sale goes to both our class and Mrs. Stawara’s class.

Today is also our last book check out day for Library. Please make sure that your child’s book is in their babckpack so her or she can check out a book one last time. All books are due back to school by next Thursday, May 26th.

We are still in need of parent volunteers to help with the walking field trip to the Farmer’s Market on June 3rd.

Thank you so much for all your help and support!!

Dear Families,

Since returning from Spring Break, there have been several incidents with students and their families during morning line up and throughout the day that have required my immediate attention. I wanted to take the time to assure each of you that I am addressing each issue and in some instances I am working with the office and the families of those involved.

Please understand that my job is to make sure that every child feels safe and secure while at school, and I am taking necessary steps to address all issues. We need to continue to synergize with one another to accomplish this goal and ensure all of our children’s safety.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please come and talk to me privately. It is important that we set the example for our children by modeling how to Seek First to Understand than to be Understood, and I need each of your help to accomplish this.

Therefore, to eliminate any further issues during our arrival procedures, I will be changing how children line up when they arrive at school. Starting tomorrow, children will now be asked to line up in number order no matter what time he/she arrives for the morning line up. It will also be expected for the children to leave enough space either in front or behind them for anyone who is missing.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have, and thank you so much for your continued support!!

Good Afternoon Families,

I hope that everyone is enjoying this beautiful weather. I have a couple quick things that I wanted to share with you.

First of all, a great big thank you to all the parents who donated items and their time to our 100’s Day Celebration. The kids and I had a blast. It was a very busy and fun filled day. I especially liked the 100’s Day shirt fashion show. All the kids came up with some very clever ideas to decorate their shirts.

On Tuesday, March 1st, we are kicking of our month long March is Reading Month celebration. This year our theme is camping. Don’t forgot about the Family Literacy  Night which will take place on Tuesday, March 1st.

Our Spring Book Fair will also be taking place this week. Our class will be visiting the Book Fair on Tuesday afternoon. Please send in money and book selections you would like your child to purchase. We will also need parent volunteers to help with the book fair on Tuesday afternoon.

Spring Conferences will be coming up later on this month. Unlike, Fall conferences, I will not be meeting with everyone during this time. However, Reports Cards will be going home to all students at the end of the month.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all your help and support.

Dear Families,

Thank you so much to everyone who has already signed up to donate items for our Holiday party. The kids and I are super excited!! We are still in a need of a couple more things: some more fruit; and another can of green icing. If you would like to donate any one of these items, please let me know, or you can sign up on our sign-up genius.

One other quick reminder: we have Library checkout on Friday. Please make sure that your child returns their book so that they can check out a new one to read over break.

Reminders

Please be sure to send in several pictures from magazines that show symmetry, such as butterflies, leaves, flowers, animal markings, etc.  Please cut out pictures and place them in a baggie with your child’s name on the baggie.  We will be creating a class collage tomorrow in math.

Tomorrow is pajama day!!  Wear your PJ’s to school.  If you signed up for the donut holes and juice for the PBIS party, please send them to school tomorrow morning.

I am still in need of a box of Fruit Loops and Cheerios for a math activity next week.  Please let me know if anyone is able to send them in.

Thanks and have a great day!

Kim
