Book Fair October 12

Week of Sept. 14

Dear Families,

Thank you for your cooperation and patience with our “soft start” schedule last week.    We appreciated your attendance at the parent meetings too!

I you were not able to attend Thursday’s parent meeting the hand-outs were placed in your child’s folder on Friday.  There were 2 handouts.  The first one was an Everyday Math overview.  This is the program we use for math instruction  The second one was your child’s log-in information for Everyday Math online games and activities to use at home.

Friday’s handouts will come home on Monday. The hand-outs are Common Core Standards for English Language Arts and Kindergarten overview for math.  Both of these handouts will help when working at home with your child and also when reading your child’s report cards this school year.

We also included a hand-out on the NWEA test which has the national RIT Scores for the beginning, middle, and end of Kindergarten.

A few reminders:

We will be starting our clip system for daily behavior on Monday.  Please be sure to review the rules located in the classroom information packet with your child daily.  On Monday we will be placing a green “Best Behavior Calendar” in the back of your child’s folder to monitor daily classroom behavior.  If your child remains on green the calendar will not be marked that is why we make the copies on green paper.  We will only mark a different color if your child’s clip moves.  Be sure to sign the calendar every night.  Children who have at least 6 out of 9 days on green or higher for the rest of this month will earn the classroom PBIS Reward Party which will be celebrated on September 30.

Please be sure to turn in all emergency cards and paperwork that was given last week on Monday.

School supplies need to be in by the end of this week.

Please pack your child’s snacks separate from his/her lunch.  Mark items as “snack”.

Have a great weekend!

Parent Meeting Handouts

Dear Families,

If you were not able to attend today’s parent meeting, the handouts will come home tomorrow in your child’s folder.  The presentation was on our Daily 5 literacy model which we use for our literacy instruction.  The double-sided handout explains the Daily 5.  We will be introducing this model to the children over the next few weeks.  Also attached is the emergent cafe strategy menu that your child will be working on as we begin Daily 5 instruction.  Please practice the listed strategies with your child at home too!  Once the emergent menu is completed your child will move on to the transitional menu.  The transitional menu will be sent home at that time.

Have a great evening!

Reminder:

Group A students attend tomorrow at 12:30.

Group B students attend tomorrow at 8:30.
