Today in class we analyzed the chemical properties of fibers by burning them. We will use this data and the data collected from the microscope lab (physical properties) for a discussion tomorrow.
Students also received a copy of their semester exam study guide today in class. It can be found on this blog and printed.

We are continuing to look at the medulla and cortex of hairs using the microscope. Next week students will have a summative quiz on identification of hair using the microscope and the data they have collected.
Here is a photo shared by a student using her IPhone and shooting the photo down the eyepiece of the microscope. Pretty cool! (By the way, this is a brown hair!)

We are working on a hair and fiber unit (trace evidence). On Monday we worked on a reading guide, Tuesday we took some notes on hair, and we will be using microscopes all week to look at hairs.
