Check out…
these amazing turkeys that were turned in today! Please don’t panic, turkeys are not due until Monday, November 9th – I just wanted to share the ones that came in today 🙂
Also, just a reminder that we will check-out new library books tomorrow since we have only a 1/2 day on Friday. Please help your child make sure they bring their books back.
In the News…
- No school tomorrow, 11/3/15
- 1/2 day of school on Friday, 11/6/15. Students will be dismissed at 11:45. Since we are not here in the afternoon, we will do our library check-out on Thursday. Please help students remember to bring their library books back.
- October reading calendars are due. Please return them by Friday. November calendars came home today. Students who return them with at least 25 days colored in will earn the free personal pizza certificate.
- Science test is coming up on Wednesday. The study guide came home last week, but just in case, here it is again 🙂
- TURKEY, TURKEY, TURKEY!! I was so excited to read the story Turkey Trouble and send Turkey home with your child today! We brainstormed many ideas as a group for how to disguise him. I am posting a picture of our ideas, but you do not have to choose from this list – by the end of the day we had come up with lots more cool ideas. I am also posting some examples of turkeys done in the past. Turkeys should be back to school in disguise by Monday, November 9th. Please let me know if you have any questions!
Happy Halloween!!
Lots of huge thank-yous to everyone who donated their time, money, or supplies to make today’s party such a huge success!! We had a great time 🙂

This just in…
- students can bring a flashlight with them tomorrow for reading during Daily 5.
- If it works for you, some families are picking their child up at lunch to take them home, feed them, and help them with their costume. If you choose to do this, please return by 1:10 so that you are here in time for the parade.
- Before I forget, here are a few pictures from science yesterday 🙂
So sorry…
the parade is at 1:30, not 1:15.
Halloween Info…
- Costumes should be school/age appropriate and sent to school in a bag labeled with your child’s name.
- We will change into costumes after lunch.
- The parade should be around 1:15 if the weather is good.
- Our party will start after the parade.
- Your child is welcome to send in treats to pass out to the class. Remember we have peanut allergies. Please make sure the treats are individually wrapped.
If you have any questions, please send me a quick email or respond to this post 🙂
Menu change for Wednesday
Tomorrow’s first choice is halal beef bologna and cheese sub.
Today was a little bit backward since we were not switching for ss and writing. We ended up with Daily 5 in the afternoon, and before I knew it, I looked up at the clock and it was 3:28!!! We did not have a chance to glue our new spelling words in, so I told the students that I would post them here so they would not lose a whole day of study time. This week’s pattern words are: cut, tube, cub, bump, fume. I will have them choose 3 individual words tomorrow instead of 5 and they will bring their red spelling notebooks home.
Also, don’t forget we have a Unit 2 math test on Wednesday. I posted the review last Friday, but here it is again just in case you missed it. Unit 2 Pretest
On Wednesday, the study guide for science will come home. The test will be the following Wednesday, November 4th.
HAPPY FRIDAY :)
- Just a reminder that we have a social studies test on Monday. The students played Jeopardy yesterday as a review. If you would like to play at home, I have uploaded it here. It is a powerpoint presentation.
- A unit 2 math test is coming up next week. The test will be Wednesday, October 28th. We have been focusing on story problems and the key words that help us understand if it is addition or subtraction. Please use this review to help your child study.
- For Daily 5, one of our rotations is Listen to Reading. Some students have been asking if they can have their own pair of headphones/earbuds. I have suggested that they get earbuds – this way they can put them in a ziploc and keep them in their ‘traveling pencil case’. If you prefer regular headphones, that is fine also. This is not required of the students – we have headphones at each computer and ipad already.
- Our Halloween party is coming up next Friday, October 30th. I have been asked to remind you about sending in your party donation of $3 if you can. Students will change into their costumes after lunch – the simpler the better 🙂 The parade will be around 1:15, weather permitting. Our party will start around 2:00. You are welcome to join us if you can!!
