Success!!
Our party and parade today were a super success!! The kids had a ton of fun:) Thanks to all of our parents who sent costumes in a bag, or sent in treats for their child to pass out, or who popped in to say hi, and/or who were able to help us out – you all helped our day go smoothly and I appreciate it!!
I snapped a few pics along the way 😉
(p.s. don’t forget flashlights on Monday)
The big day!
Tomorrow is the big day…Halloween in our classroom 🙂
- Students should bring their costumes to school in a bag, unless you plan on picking them up for lunch and getting them ready at that time. For students changing at school, please make sure it is easy for them to get on themselves. No weapons or masks.
- The Halloween parade will start around 1:30.
- Our party will be directly after the parade. You are welcome to join us. Our homeroom moms have a snack, craft, and game planned for the students to enjoy!!
- Students may bring treats to pass out to the class. Please make sure they are individually wrapped and include enough for all 25 students.
Also:
- everyone brought home science homework today
- Don’t forget math test tomorrow morning
- We will have a flashlight read-in on Monday. The more flashlights, the better, so if you have one at home that you can send with them, that would be great!
- half day of school on Friday, November 4th. Students will be dismissed at 11:45
Thank you!
Thanks so much to everyone who was able to join us on our field trip today! I appreciate you making the best of it and I know the kids made some great memories today even with the rain and cold.
Don’t forget we have a social studies test tomorrow (SS Unit 1 Review) and a math test on Friday (Unit 2 Study Guide). Plus, the Halloween parade and party will be Friday afternoon. I will repost the details for the Halloween stuff tomorrow. For now, enjoy these pictures of your kiddos 🙂
Field trip reminders…
- ALL students should bring a lunch tomorrow. We will eat in our classroom before we leave for the orchard, so using their normal lunch box is just fine.
- Chaperones may meet us at the orchard or come to school first. The address for the orchard is 10685 Warren Road, Plymouth, Michigan, 48170 We are leaving school around 11:00 and should get to the orchard before noon.
- The weatherman is saying 50 degrees and RAIN 🙁 Please dress your child for the weather! We will be walking around in a pumpkin patch and in the orchard – it may be muddy, so boots would be great, but please include shoes in your child’s backpack for wearing at school.
On a completely different note, we are having a math test on Friday. Here is the study guide: u2-study-guide

Chaperones :)
The response for chaperones was awesome!! We love that you want to join us, so we called and chatted with the orchard today. The good news is…EVERYONE who returned their slip today requesting to be a chaperone can come with us 🙂 Please send in $8 to cover the cost. I will send home the official “Yay, you’re a chaperone” note tomorrow. Just a reminder, ALL students will be riding the bus to and from the orchard – parents will need to drive themselves or carpool with a friend 🙂
OOPS!
The permission slip didn’t make it in the folder today. We will be taking the bus to the Plymouth Apple Orchard on Wednesday, October 26th. The cost of this trip will be $8. Permission slips will come home on Monday (promise!). There is a limit to the amount of chaperones for this trip.
The new math game did come home today, please return it by next Thursday. Also, remember spelling is due on Monday.
Have a SUPER weekend 🙂

This week…
- You will notice that reading bags have come home with most students. I still have one group left that will get their books tomorrow. The task is different for everyone. Some students have a stack of books that just need to be practiced over and over. Some students have a game in their bag to improve fluency. Many students have a story and a question/activity to go along with it. Please take a look at what your child has in their bag. It is very important that if you find the reading too difficult you let me know asap.
- Order forms for Lays Potato Chip fundraiser came home today. These make a great treat to hand out at Halloween.
- Friday is a half day of school. Students will be dismissed at 11:45.
- Our school Halloween parade will be Friday, October 28th at 1:30. More information about the parade/party will follow when it gets closer to the day.
- FIELD TRIP – our first field trip is coming up on Wednesday, October 26th to the Plymouth Apple Orchard. Please look for more information and the permission slip to come home on Friday.
