Today the students celebrated the end of the year. Due to the weather, we stayed at school and did fun activities.

At this point, grades are completely updated based on everything I have received and I have submitted them.

Enjoy the last school night!

In Language Arts today the students watched the movie version of The Giver. While watching, the students were given the entire class period to work on their Instagram Activity and turn it in. This is the only assignment I have left to grade and then grades will be updated. I will be turning in grades for report cards tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

During school today, our team of sixth graders went on an ice skating trip. It was an enjoyable trip and I believe the students had a positive experience. For some, this was their first time ever ice skating!

I am in the process of updating grades. I have included the last quiz score for The Giver with the exception of students who were absent. I have also graded all of the ISNs I have received from Block One and I am almost half way through Blocks Two and Three. I should definitely be finished with grades tomorrow before the end of the day.

Don’t forget we are watching The Giver in class tomorrow. This movie is PG-13 because of the “release” scene. Therefore, students will need a signed permission slip to be able to watch the movie. If students do not bring a permission slip to class, they will not be allowed to watch it.

Have a great evening!

In Language Arts today the students took their final quiz on The Giver and turned in their interactive notebooks to be graded. I have three grades left to put in the system. My goal is to have grades updated by Wednesday evening. I will send a Remind and post to the blog when they are finalized.

Don’t forget tomorrow is our field trip. We will be ice skating so make sure to bring a jacket. Lunch is not provided so you must pack your own!

Homework:

  1. Instagram Activity due Wednesday

Friday, June 7, 2019

Today in Language Arts the students reviewed chapters 19 through 23 of The Giver. If the students didn’t finish characterizing Jonas after he becomes Receive of Memory, identifying themes in the story, and the anticipation guide post-reading reflection, it was assigned as homework.

The students also need to finish organizing their ISN if they did not finish in class. I will be collecting these on Monday at the beginning of class to grade them.

Lastly, we will be taking our final quiz on chapters 19 through 23 of The Giver on Monday. Books that were borrowed from the school or classroom library MUST be turned in after the quiz or students WILL NOT be allowed to go to Levagood on Thursday.

I have attached a list of everything that needs to be included in students interactive notebooks.

Have a great weekend!
