Happy Monday! This week begins WIDA testing. Not all students will test; those who are not testing will go to an assigned location to work on reading and writing strategies.

Marking period 3 begins today, and ends March 27th. ALL LATE WORK FOR MP3 will be DUE FRIDAY, MARCH 20TH.

Reading Journals are due today.

Reading journals were handed out today (electronic copy was posted in Google classroom). It will be due Monday, February 10th.

The Greek Roots quiz will be Friday, February 7th. Word lists are posted in Google Classroom.

The next half day is Friday, March 13th.

Mid Winter break will be Monday, February 18-Friday, February 22.

Library time is scheduled every week (mostly on Friday). I am happy to send students to the library before Friday if it is needed. Students may check out 3 library books at one time. Students must have a barcode on their planner to check out a book until we have student ID’s.

Students who are one or more minutes late to class will be marked Tardy. At 3 tardies, I will contact home via email, and copy the front office on the email. At 4 tardies, students will be referred to the office AND serve a lunch detention. An updated copy of our tardy policy is on my blog!

Monday, January 13th

It’s the last week of the second marking period! We are almost halfway through January. Time flies!

ALL LATE WORK FOR MP2 WAS DUE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 10th. Unless a student was absent, or a prior arrangement was made, late work will no longer be accepted. The marking period ends Friday, and I need time to grade work.

Final Drafts of the compare/contrast papers will no longer be accepted, unless a prior arrangement was made. If they have not been submitted, the score is now a 0. The paper was due December 18th, and in class time was provided to complete the work.

Reading journals are due TODAY.

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a restful break 🙂 There were a lot of tired faces today, including mine.

Marking Period 2 started November 4th and runs through January 17, 2020. ALL LATE WORK FOR MP2 WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 10th.

The FINAL DRAFT of the compare/contrast paper WAS DUE DECEMBER 18TH. At this point, the paper is more than two days late. Papers must be handed in by January 10th to receive credit for MP 2. A RUBRIC WAS HANDED OUT DETAILING EXPECTATIONS, AND CAN ALSO BE FOUND IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

A new reading journal was handed out today; it is due Monday, January 13th.

Happy Last School Week of 2019! We are in school all week – the last day for students is Friday, December 20th. We return Monday, January 6th, from break.

Marking Period 2 started November 4th and runs through January 17, 2020. ALL LATE WORK FOR MP2 WILL BE DUE ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 10th. 1/10/20 falls on the Friday we return from Winter Break. Students will receive a missing work list by Wednesday, December 18th.

The FINAL DRAFT of the compare/contrast paper is DUE WEDNESDAY, 12/18. It CAN be typed; students are responsible for printing their own paper. Our school library can be used to print the papers.

Monday, November 25th

We have a very short week! Just a couple of reminders (and no calendar, because it’s a short week):

There is NO SCHOOL Wednesday-Friday. Please enjoy the time off!

THERE IS NO READING JOURNAL FOR THIS WEEK!

Students are welcome to work on their rough draft Compare/Contrast paper. The final copy will be due the week of December 16th; it can be typed. Students who type their final copy are responsible for printing it. Students can print at home (if you have a printer), at our school library, or at any of the Dearborn Public Library branches 🙂 Some in class time will be provided for writing, but students may need to work on this assignment at home as well.

Book Fair will be held December 2-5 in the Media Center. We are signed up to go as a class on Wednesday, December 4th. Students can purchase books, posters, and other items. Please send cash if your student is planning to buy things!

 Last week was an unexpected snow day! I wonder if we will have another one of those before our longer holiday break……
