Third graders explore the structure and function of bones as they begin a unit on skeletons and the human figure. They are creating their own skeletons to help understand how movement can be depicted in drawing and later in painting the figure. We looked at different animal vertebrae and compared their size to a human. We also got to touch and move the jaw of a deer skull. As you can see, they were totally engaged.
