The district has changed the schedule for April 6-April 9 to Remote Synchronous Instruction. All students will meet on zoom at 8:40 to go over the schedule for the day and to take attendance. Times to zoom in and out during the day for instruction will be different for this week only due to the Remote Synchronous Instruction and the specials schedule.

Since March is National Reading Month, Haigh Elementary will be will be placing special emphasis on activities that promote reading as a fun and enjoyable experience. Our theme is ADVENTURE with the slogan: “Reading is a ticket to adventure!” A special calendar with clickable links is shared below. Your child will have a Reading Log calendar to keep track of their minutes. Each child who returns their reading log by Wednesday, April 7th will earn an entry into a Haigh reading raffle full of EXCITING prizes! Every grade level has a minimum reading goal, which will be measured in minutes read per day at home. Second Grade suggested reading times for each day is at least 25-30 minutes per day.

Back to School Learning

Our learning lab schedule for the next week:

For this week we will be having our regular morning zoom reading and math lessons each day until 11:45. Our afternoon learning labs will now be in-person! Each group of students have been assigned to a Group A-green ( attending labs on Monday and Thursday), and a Group B-orange ( attending labs on Tuesday and Friday). Wednesday lessons and labs are all virtual. Each learning lab is 1 hour long. Please bring students to the second grade door. (by the basketball hoops) I will meet them there at the door. Please be on time dropping children off and picking them up. Masks are required at all times. Children do not bring their chrome books.

February 15-February 19

Another Short Wintry Week of Learning!

I hope everyone enjoyed their mid-winter break. This week we continue to follow our Safe Start To School Plan ( See Superintendent’s letter to the community for more details.) On Tuesday, February 16 the district has made this an asynchronous day in the AM for all students and Duty Day for teachers in the PM. The students will be completing assignments from their weekly Benchmark Packet independently on that day. Wednesday, February 17 Students are back to their virtual zoom schedule in the morning and afternoon. On Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19 students zoom in the morning and begin in person learning labs in the afternoon depending on the day their learning lab group meets. You will be notified of the day and time.

February 8-February 12

A Short Wintry Week of Learning!

This week our normal schedule of virtual learning continues on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with our morning zoom and learning lab reading groups zooming in the afternoon. On Thursday, February 11 the district has made this an asynchronous day for all students. ( See Superintendent’s letter to the community for more details.) The students will be completing assignments from their weekly Benchmark Packet independently on that day. Friday, February 12- Monday, February 15 is Mid Winter Break. There is no school or zooming on those days. We will be back to our virtual learning and morning zoom with afternoon learning lab reading groups by zoom on Tuesday, February 16. I hope all second grade students enjoy their Mid Winter Break.

Kids Club and Child Care for Dearborn Public Schools Parents

Morning Haigh Community,

In preparation for the Hybrid Model, I wanted to share out the google document below that provides registration information for Kids Club and Childcare. As mentioned in my video yesterday, I am hoping to let families know within the next week if they are an “A-Family(in person on Monday and Thursday)” or a “B-Family(in person on Tuesday and Friday). I know that this will help with planning ahead for your families. Please see the linked document below that will provide some background information on these 2 programs.

School Age Child Care Options 

Do you need Kids Club during our Hybrid Learning? We now have total ONLINE Enrollment through our new Eleyo System.  

Just go to our Eleyo Web Page https://dearbornschools.ce.eleyo.com/child-care/3/school-age-care  Parents will need to create an account and then begin to enroll their children. It is OK if you don’t know your Cohort schedule at this point. Go ahead and choose a schedule. When you are given your schedule by your teacher just drop us an email at billingech@dearbornschools.org and we can make that correction for you! 

Kids Club is from 7:30 a.m. until the beginning of school and the flat fee is $13 for each a.m. session. The p.m. session is from the end of school until 5:30 p.m. and the flat fee is $15.60 for each session. 

You will see sections for Kids Club and for School Age All Day Child Care. We do offer care at DuVall and Lindbergh. The hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost per session is $36/8 hour, $38/9 hours and $40/10 hours. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. A minimum number of students are required to offer our tuition based programs.
