Week of April 13-17

Week of April 13th – 17th

Welcome back!! We hope that everyone enjoyed the break. As you may have heard, the Governor ended the in-class instruction for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. However, we will continue with our online learning until June 14th. It’s very important that you continue to check the blog daily and complete the assigned work. Under the Governor’s new order and the district’s plan the work will be graded. If, for any reason, you don’t have access to a computer or internet please notify me immediately. We will try to work something out when possible. If you have any questions or concerns please email me at silvam@dearbornschools.org I will check it daily and respond within 24 hours.

PLEASE CHECK GOOGLE CLASSROOM FOR THIS WEEK’S WORK. IT IS ALL POSTED THERE. If you click “Classwork”, there is a page for “April 13-17” under the topics on the left hand side of the page.

Reading: Please continue to complete 45 minutes a week on I-Ready. I have assigned two lessons to all of you (“Determining Word Meaning Using Context Clues 4” and “Determining Word Mean Using Context Clues 5”). Completing these two lessons will give you the needed minutes, the goal is to pass the lessons at 70%.

Math: Zearn lessons should be completed to Lesson 19. I urge parents to also have students visit Khan Academy.  Please continue to work on computation nightly. Our focus is division.  Students all have division cards in their math bags.  If not, those can be purchased from the dollar store.

Writing: What is a fun activity that you have done with your family? Maybe you went somewhere? Maybe you did something at home? Think about what happened to make the event fun. Describe when and where this happened. Describe all the people there with you. Explain why this was a fun family activity. It is assigned on Google Classroom. Complete this on a Google Doc and submit by Friday.

Spelling:  I have shared Google Slides with you on Google Classroom. The Slides have all the spelling words and the assignments that need to be completed by Friday, April 17.

Next Week is Spring Break

Reminder: Next week is Spring Break. During this time, assignments will NOT be posted. We will resume after Spring Break. Please enjoy your break and I will join back after break is over. I will continue to keep you updated as new information is presented.

4-2-2020 School Update

Hello students and families,

As you have heard online and in the news, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has issued an Executive Order suspending in-person classes for the rest of the school year, unless restrictions are lifted.

This means that there are no in-person classes at this time.

Khan Academy Schedule

Parents, I am attaching a learning schedule that is provided by Khan Academy. It provides links to learning opportunities and recommended play/break times. There are schedules for students in grades PreK-12. Khan Academy is a great resource that many teachers, parents and students approve of. I highly recommend this schedule – it provides a regular routine with learning and break times.
