Due to our assembly and math test today, I will be postponing our Social Studies test until Friday. Please make sure your child is present this Friday to take the test. If for some reason your child will not be present, please let me know today and I can have them take the assessment tomorrow.

Thank you for your understanding!

Color-Cycle Program

Dear Families~
Lindbergh has implemented a student-led Green Team. This team consists of 4th and 5th graders who meet with me, once a month. We have many things planned for this school year! Our first plan of action is to implement the Color-Cycle program through Crayola.

Please read the attached letter for more information about this. Thank you for your support!

Best,

Mrs. Currie

The Kids Heart Challenge!

The Kids Heart Challenge (formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart) is a fun and exciting event where your student learns about their heart while helping others by raising money for the American Heart Association. It prepares your child for success through physical and emotional well-being.

Next week we’ll be kicking off our annual Kids Heart Challenge program. Your student will get a chance to meet Alexa, the featured heart hero for this year, along with the awesome new Hero crew who are here to teach us all about taking care of our own hearts and help others along the way.

Get a jump start! Take a moment to register your student online today – upon registering your student can select their heart healthy challenge and share their page with others. Students who raise $150 online donation by January 22nd will earn a special gift! It is FREE to register, and the class who has the highest percentage of students signed up will earn an EXTRA PE DAY!

To register, visit http://www2.heart.org/goto/Lindbergh

Thank you for your support of our PE program, and the American Heart Association!

Mid-Year Testing

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Since we are about half-way through the school year, Lindbergh has started their Mid-Year testing. Tomorrow your child will receive study guides for their math and social studies. If for some reason your child is still missing their study guide, or if you would like to get a head start on it, you can find them underneath the Unit 2 Study Guide tab. I will also be putting review games up there as well!

In addition, listed below you will see our upcoming test schedule. This will help everyone use habit 2: begin with the end in mind, and plan for those upcoming tests. I know testing sometimes makes students nervous, and so before the test we will be doing some yoga as well as some positive affirmation stress relief talk. Hopefully this will be a testing tool students will use to relax and calm down during the test. One way to help at home is to remind students to get a good night’s sleep, give a “pep” talk before school, and eat a great breakfast before test days.

Upcoming Test Schedule

Throughout Jan. – DRA (reading) Testing

Wednesday 01/15-  Module 2 Math Test

Thursday 01/16-  Social Studies Unit 2 Test

Wednesday 01/22- NWEA Reading

Blue Ribbon T-Shirts

Lindbergh is proud to have earned both Blue Ribbon and Lighthouse status this year! None of this would have been possible without each and every member of the Lindbergh community flying the spirit of success together. For this reason we thought it would be nice to have new shirts made to show our Lindbergh pride! Please complete the order form if you are interested in any of the items and return it to your child’s classroom teacher with the correct amount in cash by Tuesday, January 14, 2020. All shirts will be in the color royal blue to symbolize our prestigious Blue Ribbons status!

Weekly Update for the Week of 01/06

Image result for welcome back from winter break

Today was our first day back from break, and I absolutely LOVED hearing about all of the family adventures that you had over break. The students loved sharing their winter break snapshot (stories). Since we are getting back into the swing of things we are going to ease our way back into school life this week. There will be no spelling test for this upcoming week.

Along with starting a brand new year, we also will be starting out mid-year assessment period for students. During the month of January students will be taking the NWEA assessment. This is the standardized assessment that is taken three times a year. Students will complete their math, reading, and language NWEA. Please remind students of proper test taking strategies and continue working on those lead measures.

We also began our DRA reading assessment today. Students will read independently with me and will showcase their reading growth. Make sure to keep up with the blog for all of the upcoming assessments.

Listed below is the content we will be covering this week.

Reading- DRA testing begins this week. Identifying non literal meanings within fictional text-similes, reviewing our fictional unit on how choices affect characters, and beginning reading informational text to identify a main idea.

Writing- Wrapping our draft for our own fables, practicing revising our writing to provide more detailed words, and editing for spelling mistakes.

Math- Rounding two and three digit numbers, practicing solving addition and subtraction problems, and reviewing measurement.

Social Studies – Comparing the Three Fires Tribes, analyzing Native American legends, discuss how native american tribes modified and adapted to their environment

Leader in Me- Habit 4: Think win-win. Discussing how thinking win-win is a way of life- a mental frame of mind that says I can win, and so can you. It’s not me or you, its both of us. Thinking win-win is a foundation for getting along with others and solving problems.
