The Chapter 6 Test is now available on the Alg2 Google Classroom. The testing window closes at 6:00pm Wednesday, April 15.

Remember you are to take this test without assistance from any other person, textbook, notes, or the internet. You can use a calculator that you may have or the online calculators that I’ve posted a link to on this blog.

Just give your best effort, that’s all I ever ask for.

Monday, April 13, 2020

No new lesson today. Remember tomorrow is the Chapter 6 Test. You can access the test via the Alg 2 Google Classroom. I will make the test accessible when I get up in the morning which should be no later than 7:00 am.

I posted a practice test on this blog Saturday, April 11, 2020. Refer to this practice test to see exactly what you will be expected to show me on tomorrow’s test.

I will be available for help today. I will check my email frequently and will respond as quickly as I can. I will be busy with a meeting from about 12:30 to 2:30 away from my computer so if you send me a question I can get it on my phone but may not be able to respond to it until I get back home.

Practice Test

The two links below contain the Chapter 6 Practice Test with answers and some directions and practice on using the online calculators. I will be available for questions regarding the test most of Sunday and Monday. Just send me an email. I will check my email periodically throughout each day and try to respond as quickly as possible.

4 of you still haven’t joined the Alg 2 Google Classroom and 19 of you didn’t turn in the Assessment Affidavit assignment that was due yesterday.

Remember, the test is Tuesday and will be accessible through the Alg 2 Google Classroom beginning in the morning.

Friday, April 10, 2020: Information about the Ch 6 Test.

Four of the 76 Alg 2 students have yet to join the Alg 2 Google Classroom.  42 of you still need to complete the Assessment Affivdavit and return it by the end of the day today.

The Chapter 6 test will be given on Tuesday, April 14.  I will put the test on the Alg 2 Google Classroom in the morning and it must be completed by 9:00pm.  I will post a practice test, with answers, on Saturday, April 11 on this blog.  I will be available to answer questions on Monday, April 13.

Remember you will be doing the work on separate paper.  Write neatly, number each problem and circle your answer, box in all the work for each problem separately.

If you don’t have a calculator that does everything you need it to do, powers, roots, logarithms, etc., I’ve posted a link to two online calculators that you can use on my blog under the heading “Helpful Math Resources and Math Links”.  Along with the practice test I’ll give you some examples of some calculations you’ll need to do in order to make sure you are using these online ones correctly.

There is an assignment on my Alg 2 Google Classroom for you to complete by Friday, April 10. This assignment is in preparation for next week’s Chapter 6 test and sets forth the guidelines for you to follow for this and all subsequent tests. If you don’t see the assignment or can’t access this assignment let me know because this is also a test of whether I am using Google Classroom correctly since I’ve never used it before.

Ch 6 Review – version 2

Click on the link below for the latest version of the review for the Chapter 6 Test. This review is a shortened version of the original one and will more closely reflect the problems on the Ch 6 Test.

If you want additional practice for Chapter 6 try googling Exponential Growth and Decay application problems, Solving Exponential and Logarithmic Equations, etc. Or try clicking on the link below for worksheets with answers from Kuta Software: and look for the Exponential and Logarthmic Functions section: https://www.kutasoftware.com/freeia2.html

You can also try Precalculus Worksheets from Kuta Software under the same heading.

For more review on Chapter 7 you can check out the sections in both Alg 2 and Precalculus covering Trigonometry in Kuta Software. For help with the Special Right Triangles try Geometry Worksheets under the heading for Right Triangles. For practice using trig to solve story problems try googling “Trig Story Problems” , “Trig Application Problems”, or “Angles of Elevation and Depression Problems”.

Given that we will not be returning to the classroom this school year unless conditions improve dramatically I will continue to post daily Bellwork, Video Lessons and/or Practices. I will discontinue PSAT/SAT questions for now since you will not be taking these tests this Spring. But you may be taking them in the Fall.

You will be tested over Chapter 6 when we return from Spring Break, hopefully some time during the week of April 13. I’m not sure yet how this will occur as I explore all the possibilities available. I will make further announcements regarding this test as I do more research on how to best give you this assessment. I will also produce another Chapter 6 Review that will include only the material to be covered on this test. It will probably not include everything that was on the original Ch 6 review you were given a few week ago.

This will be followed eventually by a test over Chapter 7. We will then continue to cover as much of the curriculum that was set forth in the Spring 2020 Syllabus. If you don’t have a copy of the syllabus one can be found on this blog by clicking on the heading for the Class Syllabus near the top of this page.

I know not all of you have a graphing calculator at home so I’ve located what appears to be useful online calculators that you can use. The link to an online scientific calculator can be found in the Helpful Math Links heading of this blog near the top of this page. Also in this section is a copy of the Unit Circle and a nice online Logarithm Calculator called OMNI CALCULATOR.

There is no video lesson today, click on following link below for Practice #15 which is review of what we’ve covered in Chapter 7 so far. Due to the size of this practice it is linked to my Google Drive just like the video lessons so you’ll have to sign in with your Dearborn Schools account: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1B92FSFZeN81yNf1vCmhZaasrhBDERhr1

Remember, you’ll be tested over Chapter 6 at some point soon after we return from Spring Break. I will post another comprehensive Ch 6 Review next week which will narrow down the material that you’ll be tested on. Otherwise, I won’t be posting daily lessons next week.
