Bellwork was an exploration on the graph of Absoltue Value Functions.

During this period students learned how to translate, reflect, and stretch/shrink the graph of y=|x|. Students can now can create a graph if given the equation and write the equation if given the graph.
We also continued discussing Families of Function by going over the concept of Reflections and Rotations.

Hwk #4 is due tomorrow:
Practice Sheet Sec 2-5.

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

Bellwork reviewed Domain & Range and solving compound inequalities.
Hwk #3 is due today.

The remainder of the period we added to the notes for Families of Functions by discussing Intercepts of a Graph. We then began to discuss graphs of Absolute Value Functions (Sec 2-5).

Hwk #4 is due on Friday:

Bellwork had students practice finding Domain, Range, Increasing intervals, and Decreasing intervals from a graph. Students also practiced solving an equation for one of its variables.

The remainder of the period we continued discussing solving equations for one of its variables and stating restrictions on the variables (Sec 1-3).

To start the class students were to work on the Families of Functions Activity that they started yesterday.

The rest of the period we began creating a Vocabulary booklet for the terms used when discussing Functions.

Wednesday, September 9, 201

Bellwork reviewed expanding the product of two binomials and solving equations and inequalities.

The remainder of the period students were given the class syllabus. We then began discussing the different Families of Functions. Students were reminded about the definition of a Function and given examples of a relation that was a function and a relation that was not a function. Students began working on an activity to explore and discover the different families of functions.
