Bellwork introduced students to systems of linear equations.

The remainder of the period we discussed Sec 7-1:  Solving systems of equations by graphing.

Hwk #32 is due on Monday, January 5:  Pages 343-344, Problems 1, 2, 9, 11, 12, 19-21, 38.  Use the paper I passed out to do the homework on.

Bellwork had students find the ratio of height to distance using the posts of the roof of a house.

The remainder of the period we discussed Sec 5-5:  Direct Variation.

Hwk #31 is due on Thursday:  Pages 264-265, Problems 12, 13, 23-26, 37, 41, 45

Today’s bellwork was a lateral thinking question.

The remainder of the period students worked on an exploration to discover how altering the equation of the Parent Absolute Value Function, y=|x| changes the graph.  See the link at the bottom for some of this exploration and results.

We then discussed Sec 6-7 which contains much of what the exploration covered.

Hwk #32 is due on Monday:  Practice Sheet – Absolute Value functions and their graphs.
