Description: Hi friends!!! I miss you so much and am hoping you can come “hang out” with me and your classmates tomorrow! This is a “test run” and I am hoping to have more opportunities next week if you cannot do tomorrow.

Love, Mrs. Rawson

Raz Kids!!! On-line LEVELED READING BOOKS and QUIZZES to help students LEVEL UP their reading! This is a great way to practice leveled text, please let me know if you have ANY questions!

Kids A-Z Login Instructions

Step 1: Go to www.kidsa-z.com

Step 2: Enter or choose the teacher’s username, mrsrawson

Step 3: Your child finds his or her username on the class chart

Step 4: Your child enters his or her password,

Raz Kids Stats so far…. 9 out of 22 students that have logged in and so far on RAZ KIDS!!!

Please give it a try this weekend and let me know if you have any questions about this program but it is AWESOME for allowing students to listen, read, and take quizzes at their level and working to LEVEL UP READING!!! It also allows me, the teacher, the ability to remotely track your reading minutes, books, and to see what skills are strengths and weakness for each child. I hope that this will allow me to give personalized feedback to each student.

Remember to first listen to the story, then read AND RECORD (red button near top of dashboard), and lastly you take the quiz. You should be doing this order for EACH book so that you can LEVEL UP your reading level.

Happy Reading!!!! So proud of you all and hope parents this is something that the students will be able to do mostly ON THEIR OWN as I entered their independent reading level. Let me know if you have any questions for concerns!!!

So happy to see students earning stars and working hard, congratulations to the top earners so far!! At the end of each week (Friday), I will post the top 3– Malak, Ali E, and Mila, here are the current=nt class leaders along with some awesome stats that I can see from those who have joined so far.

Change to Meal Picks– today is the same and you can pick up weekend meals.

Starting next week, Dearborn Public Schools is changing to free student meal pickup three times a week. Pickups will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday next week (March 30 to April 3), and then Monday, Wednesday, Thursday the week of April 6 to 10 because of Good Friday. After that, pickups will stay at Monday, Wednesday and Friday while the program is in effect. Each bags will contain enough meals for each student to last until the next pickup date. The reduced schedule will hopefully be easier for families, and reduce the potential virus exposure for families, staff and volunteers.

Here we go with week #2!!! Parents please feel free to give me feedback through the REMIND APP of what is working for you with working with your child at home.  We hope to make all of the enrichment learning opportunities we are providing a way for you to bond with your child during this time at home as well as continue to learn and review kindergarten academic content standards.  If you have any suggestions or concerns about our at-home enrichment learning plan, please let us know. You can contact teachers through the remind APP as well as our email: rawsonm@dearbornschools.org and fowlers@dearbornschools.org

BIG THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!! Our kindergarten team has been so successful this year in large part because of the family participation and we will continue to have success because parents and teachers are a TEAM and working together to meet the needs of our students and children.

We continue to express great gratitude to how our families have come together to help and support each other.  Now more than ever teachers, parents, and our Oakman family must work together to support each other in so many ways.  We hope that the lessons, activities, and resources we are providing are allowing for some structure and routine to your households.  Structure and routine help provide a safe feeling for young children. Here are some stories to help answer some questions that your young child might have about everything going on. You may use Raz Kids for reading time.  Remember to go to LEVELED TEXT (I have put in your independent reading level already so just choose a book to listen to, reading and record, and then take the quiz)  *Important to follow those 3 steps in that order each time*

For example: this screen is showing level “B” books. Do the headphones botton first to listen, then the book button to read (REMEMBER TO GO TO THE RED RECORD BUTTON AT THE TOP SO I CAN HEAR YOU READ IT), then go to the question mark at the end for the quiz.

No NEW assigned BENCHMARK ❤️ red ❤️ booklet informational text for today.  Make sure you are up to the story “‘ A Day for Martin Luther King Jr” on page 8 and 9.  Read text and complete response with a picture and sentence to match. (10 minutes) No new page today, make sure you are finished up to page 9.

Monday, March 23, 2020

ROAR Announcements for today!!

Please watch with your family and make sure to stand up TALL for the Pledge of Allegiance and our Oakman Pledge!!

Parents if you need more support, please contact District Public Hotline for questions and support from 9 a.m. -4 pm (Monday to Friday) is  313-827-3006 or email is communications@dearbornschools.org
