Spring Break Ideas: Things to Do with the Kids - Everything ...

TGIF!!! We have made it friends!!!! Next week is SPRING BREAK, enjoy this break with your family.   I encourage you to play games together, go for a hike at a MetroPark, do a puzzle, make an art project or birdhouse, or get really creative a make a sandbox in a baby pool, but please enjoy the time with family and be safe.  Take a break from the school work and get energized to come back ready to work on Monday, April 13th to remote learning. The governor announced yesterday that schools will remain closed for the remainder of the school year, which is heart breaking news but your Oakman family and Kindergarten team are working to ensure that we remain in close contact for emotional and social support while creating engaging and purposeful learning activities that ensure ALL students will be ready for 1st grade in the fall.

Spring Break begins Monday, April 6: There will not be daily assignments posted; however, we will still give some strong recommendations of fun non screen learning activities at the end of each daily post as well as online programs (RAZ KIDS, ZEARN, and CLEVER Resources).  Also, work on your list of 50 sight words— students will be “tested” via video the week we get back from break!!!

It’s Virtual spirit week this week!!    Today is have fun outside!!! send your picture to Mr. Abu-Rus, Mrs. Chehab, or Mrs. Dakhla

Parents Please Reply to me on Remind if your child can join us for a face to face hangout tomorrow April 1, 2020, at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm. If you don’t reply “YES I AGREE and your child’s name”, you can’t join me. I really need to see my friends, I miss everyone terribly!

What Adults Can Learn From Show and Tell

It will be a “show and tell” hangout!!! So decide on an item from home (toy, stuffed animal, etc.) that you want to show and describe to your friends. PARENTS I ask that you or an older sibling stay close to your child during the hang out so you can help them unmute their microphone when it is their turn to talk.

With a large group (hopefully all 22 can join!!!!!), everyone will need to mute their mic and wait their turn to talk or else it gets too loud and confusing with everyone talking.

Please try to use the link posted to this blog post from your computer as you can see more people on a computer than with using a phone. It will work from a phone but if you do not have the APP, it will be voice only and really the big fun of the “hang out” is to see everyone’s face!!!!!

Again, due to some new guidelines from the district we NEED PARENT PERMISsION in order for your child to join (just like we need permission for a field trip!!!) I will only send the link information to the hang out to those that reply (YES I AGREE with their child’s name) to me on the remind APP.

I hope this will be a fun experience for the kids, I tried with a few friends over the weekend and it was so good to see your faces. I apologize that the call is kind of late (4:30-5:30) but I wanted to wait until my husband got home from work so that my children (and hopefully my dog!!! LOL) will not interrupt our “hangout!!!”

I’m so excited to see everyone tomorrow and hope you all can join!! PARENTS PLEASE REPLY BACK ASAP with “Yes, I agree– your child’s name” and I will send you the info tomorrow at 4:25 so we can start at 4:30!!
