Dear parents:
In this challenging situation , we, the staff at Oakman, are working hard to assist our students in mitigating any learning loss, and doing our best to keep things in their normal pace as if school days are on! We understand that everyone is under some kind of pressure and have a different way of dealing with this challenge . We will continue to offer our students the best possible opportunities to learn and stay mentally connected . We also understand the huge role you play as a parent/ Guardian. Without your guidance , most of these learning opportunities will serve as a time filler only . We encourage you to stay positive and to help your child/ children do the best they can when it comes to digital learning. Remember that your children will look up to you as the sound of reason in these confusing times! Let’s work together to help our students , your children, stay ahead of the game and if not ahead, let’s keep them as close as possible . This only works if we did this as a team – one part is school ( digitally) and the other part is home ( you guiding and assisting your children through remote learning). Please know that we’ll post start and end time for the digital work to motivate students to complete not to stress you. We also will give our students a chance to catch up with the work twice a week. May God help us all in navigating through this challenging and difficult time. And please remember that we can overcome this by practicing safe measures and by helping each other !
Best regards,
Oakman Staff
In addition a note from your Oakman Kindergarten Teachers:
Parents please feel free to give me feedback through the REMIND APP of what is working for you with working with your child at home. We hope to make all of the enrichment learning opportunities we are providing a way for you to bond with your child during this time at home as well as continue to learn and review kindergarten academic content standards. If you have any suggestions or concerns about our at-home enrichment learning plan, please let us know. You can contact teachers through the remind APP as well as our email: rawsonm@dearbornschools.org and fowlers@dearbornschools.org
BIG THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO!! Our kindergarten team has been so successful this year in large part because of the family participation and we will continue to have success because parents and teachers are a TEAM and working together to meet the needs of our students and children.

Dear Oakman parents,
This is definitely a tough and strange time for all of us! However, we can’t give up or give in ! We need to be resilient and benefit from the time as much as possible . All Oakman teachers will continue to provide online learning enrichment to all students. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity in order to keep our students abreast with their learning. Dearborn Public Schools has been super active in this and offering all students multiple venues to be an active learner. For the past two days, chrome books were prepared and loaned out to families
( 1 per family) if they needed it. Tomorrow Friday March 20, 2020 @ 11:30, we’ll do our last distribution of chrome books to any family who didn’t get the chance to get one yet. Please take advantage of this offer and stop by the school starting at 11:30 AM – door # 10 off Orchard street to pick up a device for your children who attend Oakman school. We ask that you bring a state ID with you and also to remain in your car and a teacher volunteer will hand you the chrome book. Please be advised that quantities are limited and will given on a first come first serve basis. If you had obtained a chrome book, we kindly ask you not to request another one. Thank you and please stay safe.
