Constitution Day Writing Prompt:
The first ten amendments to the Constitution are known as the “Bill of Rights.” These amendments guarantee many of our individual rights including freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of assembly, the right to bear arms, the right to be free from warrantless searches and seizures, the privilege against self–incrimination, the right to trial by jury in civil and criminal cases, and the right to legal counsel in criminal cases.
In a five paragraph essay, explain which of these rights is the most important and defend your choice.

1. The writer’s opinion is clearly stated and there are at least three details/ pieces of evidence to support the author’s opinion (Ideas and Content) +/- 6 pts
2. The writer has a strong introduction and the paper follows a well thought out pattern structural pattern. (Organization) +/-6 pts.
3. Proper spelling of content area words and correct usage of capitalization (Conventions) +/- 6 pts.
