This week, students will practice for their Point of View and Dialogue Quiz and will begin working on our Seedfolks narrative.
Students will be writing a narrative written in the first person for their big summative writing assignment for the 1st marking period. Students will be writing as though they are characters in Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman. The narratives will be bound together in a wonderful book from https://studentreasures.com/. Students will include a picture that is either a self-portrait or a picture of their protagonist. Please see the planning paper and rubric for more information.
We will also have our P.O.V. and Dialogue Quiz this Thursday, 10/17/19. Students will be responsible for creating quiz questions on Monday, practicing dialogue in their homework on Tuesday, playing a review game on Wednesday, and taking the quiz Thursday. They can also review by looking back at our notes or watching videos on P.O.V. or dialogue.
We will also be working on a new Mentor Sentence this week, focused on dialogue and using specific, vivid words. Students will be expected to complete 2 metacognitive logs each night Monday-Thursday this week as they read for 20 minutes each night. Logs will be due Friday, 10/18.
