Highlights from today 11/1

Hello Families!

Today we went on a leaf hunt. We will use these leaves for science investigations using our 5 senses this week!

We also practiced brainstorming words that being with the letter Ll. One of the words we came up with is lion. To tie this learning into non-fiction text, we read an informational book about lions. We created a thinking map of facts we learned about lions from the text. Then we tied this learning into writing by illustrating a fact about lions. Tomorrow we will write our fact about lions that matches our idea in the illustration.

We practiced recognizing the quantity on a ten frame and finding the matching number. We also played a subitizing game on dreambox.com to practice quickly identifying the quantity of numbers 1 through 10 on a ten frame. Here is the link. The game is under resources, then teacher tools. Click here for dreambox.

In addition to all of this fun and learning we used our sense of smell and taste to answer the question, “Do you like pumpkin pie?” The children hypothesized (guessed) which column would have the most friends… the yes column or the no column. After this yummy investigation the children wrote their answers and we graphed to gather our data. The results indicated that 19 friends like pumpkin pie and 6 friends did not!

PLEASE see me if you did not sign up for conferences!!! Conferences begin next week. Attending conference is SUPER important. Thanks!!!

Also, Care to the Core Rally for anti-bullying and positive behavior is Thursday at 6:00 at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center. This is a fun and free event for the whole family.

Also, please check the homework ideas link. I uploaded a calendar that provides daily homework assignments for your child for the month of November.

Thank you for all you do!!

  1. I am sure Bilo was part of the 19 that loved Punpkin Pie. He has been begging me to make pumpkin pie.

Loved the photos. The kids had such a good time making their spider treats and playing the math games.

Thank you for the link I have been meaning to ask you about it. It is very creative idea to incorporate into their learning process.
Can’t wait till lulu tries it.

    Thanks for everything you do!
Your amount of patience and love you provide our children leaves me speechless. I would have never been able to do what you do. God bless you!

    Regards,
    Bilo’s M❤️M
