Water bottles

Over last three days, we have had A LOT of water bottles that have spilled in the classroom. We have had papers ruined and kids have been sad that work was destroyed. Can you please make sure that the water bottle you send in with your child is spill proof? Kinders are still working on both fine and gross motor skills and water bottles that are difficult to open or have a large opening can cause frustration. Thank you!

Reminder

Hello Snow Families,
I hope everyone is enjoying the Labor Day weekend!
This is just a reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday the 3rd) is our first early release day. We will dismiss at 2:25pm.

Please continue to have your child bring a healthy snack to class and to know the difference between their lunch and snack.

See you tomorrow : )

Class Dojo

Just a reminder, I do not use Class Dojo. I have gotten a few requests for parents to join my class Dojo but I do not have any classes on Dojo. All communication will be on the blog and/or notes in their blue folder. If I need to get ahold of you, I will either email, send a note or call you.

Thank you for understanding!

SNOW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Happy Tuesday!

Today was another great day!

Please continue to practice opening lunch boxes and containers. They did awesome!

Please remember to pack a SEPARATE snack in addition to their lunch. It doesn’t has to be big. Fresh fruit, fruit snacks, pretzels, cheese sticks, hummus/pita, fresh veggies are all good options. Please DO NOT send candy. We also do not allow juice at snack time. Water only. Spills happen daily and juice creates a huge sticky mess. Thank you!

Please be sure to check your child’s Blue folder. I had to send home some of the purple Student Information sheets because the back was not filled out. If you have not turned one in yet, please do so soon.

We did some of the ME BAGS today! And they LOVED them! If you have not done it yet, please try to do it soon. They love sharing things about themselves.

See you all in the morning!

We had a GREAT first day!

We made it!

Some reminders:

  1. At dismissal, please remind your student that they may NOT leave until I see the adult that is picking them up. We went over that over and over today but many kids took off the minute they saw their parent and it made it hard to make sure kids were where they needed to be.
  2. We will dismiss from door 20. Please make sure that whomever is picking up your child is at that area at dismissal. I cannot send kids to other places to meet their pickup person. If an older sibling is picking them up, they need to come to me and pick up at our door. Thank you for understanding.
  3. As much as I want to debrief with you about your child’s day, I cannot do it right at dismissal time. Please give me the time get all of the kids to their parents before we talk. If you have questions or you have anything that you need, please wait until all the kids are safely with their pick up person and then we can talk or set up a time if you need more than a few minutes. I appreciate your help in this.
  4. Thank you to everyone who sent in supplies and materials today! I will put the bin out by door 20 again tomorrow to collect any supplies. You can also put them in your child’s backpack a little everyday if you prefer.
  5. Starting tomorrow, we will have lunch in the lunchroom. Please practice opening and closing lunch boxes, water bottles and snack bags. Also, please make sure they know where their water bottle, snack and lunch are in the their backpacks.
  6. Tomorrow is a FULL day so we dismiss at 3:55. Please send in a snack with your kiddo so we can eat it in the afternoon.

I will see you all in the morning!

Happy Last Day of Summer!

I hope you all had a great last day of summer!

We moved my daughter into her dorm room in West Virginia this weekend so it was an emotional roller coaster. She is happy and excited for the next chapter but it may take mom and dad a while to adjust. πŸ™‚

Tomorrow morning, I will be outside on the blacktop about 8:45. I am going to wear my tie-dyed Snow shirt so it will be easy to find me.

We line up on line 1 (closest to the entrance).

I will have some bins outside of our dismissal door (door 20) for you to put supplies in that are not in your child’s backpack. YOU DO NOT NEED TO SEND IN ALL OF THE SUPPLIES! You can send them in slowly over the next 2 weeks if that is easier for you. Thank you in advance!

As a reminder, we are asking that you say your goodbyes outside. We have found that it is MUCH easier on the kiddos if mom and dad separate quickly outside. No parents will be allowed in the building so please be ready to wave! If your child is crying, I promise they will stop faster if you tell them goodbye and then leave. I know it sounds harsh but trust me, it works! When parents linger around, it makes it harder on all the kids, not just yours. I appreciate your help with this.

Enjoy your night and I will see you all in the morning!

Open House

Open House is scheduled for Friday, August 23rd, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM, and will take place outdoors on the Culver side of the building. Teachers will be set up on the blacktop in grade level teams.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend Open House due to my daughter moving to college on that day. She is going to be a freshman and will be attending Wheeling University to study Elementary Education and play softball. We will miss her!!

Even though I will not be here on Friday, please still attend Open House. There will be a staff member out there with folders with important information for you. In the folder, there are some papers for you to fill out and return the first day. There is also a ziplock bag for you to put an extra set of clothes on case of an accident. You will also find a “ME BAG” in the folder. This is a project for both you and your child to work on. This is due by Friday September 6.

You do not need to bring supplies to Open House. I will post the supply list separately with things they will need on the first day. Thank you for the support!
