Poem of the week
Teeny Tiny Ghost
A teeny tiny ghost
no bigger than a mouse,
at most,
lived in a great big house.
It’s hard to haunt
a great big house
when you’re a teeny tiny ghost
no bigger than a mouse,
at most.
He did what he could do.
So every dark and stormy night—
the kind that shakes a house with fright—
if you stood still and listened right,
you’d hear a
teeny
tiny
BOO!

What was Happening?
For all this week, we were working on our letter of the week, the letter “G”. We learned that letter “G” is for “Grapes”, and we made our samples of this letter. We decorated our room with our crafts, we also decorated our wall outside the classroom with our letter “G” sample. For our reading comprehension, we answered “What book did we read?” and “Who were the characters of the story?”. To answer these questions, we used “We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt” book by Steve Metzger. We are doing great in learning our core words “I” and “Want”, and we are reading “Eat the Rainbow” book from “Core First Learning” series. In math, we counted numbers 1-10, listened to a counting song, rolled a dice and counted different objects. In science, we learned about weather and calendar words. This week, we participated and enjoyed the “UPSTANDERS” assembly. We had a great and fun time during the assembly when some of us had the chance to be part of the show! We had a great time in Gym, Art, & Music.

Hello, Friends & Families!
Poem of the week
Pumpkin picking
Let’s go picking in the pumpkin patch.
Now we’re jiggling the old gate latch.
Gate swings wide and we step inside.
Pumpkins spread like an ocean tide.
You take the one like a fat ballon.
I’ll take the one like an orange moon.
hike to the house in fifty paces.
Then we’ll carve out the pumpkin faces.

We focused on letter “F” this week. We traced, colored, sounded out, and discovered different items that start with this week’s letter, the letter “F”. We made the letter “F” craft, and we placed our sample on the wall outside our classroom, as well as inside the classroom. We are still watching our tree leaves how they change color/status. The leaves are already turned dry and their color is turning to black. We practiced counting numbers (1-10), and we used different manipulatives for counting. For reading comprehension, we answered “What book did we read?” and “Who was the book about?” questions, and we used “I Know an Old lady who swallowed a pie” book. We also are still learning our core words, “I” & “Want” by using our core learning book “When I Want” from the “Core first Learning” series. For science, we are learning about seasons, weather, and calendar words. We did an amazing job in Gym, Art, and music.

Poem of the week
Autumn Leaves
Green leaves,
Yellow leaves,
red leaves, and brown,
Falling,
Falling,
Blanketing the town.
Oak leaves,
maple leaves,
Apple leaves, and pear,
Falling,
Whispering,
“Autumn’s in the air!”
Big leaves,
Little leaves,
Pointed leaves, and round,
Falling,
Nestling,
Carpeting the ground.

The Letter “E” is our focus for this week. We traced, colored & matched all about the letter “E”. We made our sample of “E is for Elephant” and placed it inside our classroom, while we placed our letter “E” poster on the wall outside the room. We enjoyed working on these activities:) For reading comprehension, we answered “What book did we read?” and “Who was the book about?” questions. We also worked on our core words for this week, “I” and “Want”, and we used “When I Want” book from the “Core first Learning” series. For math, we learned how to use different manipulatives to count from 1-10. In science, we are learning about seasons, weather, and calendar words, and we still are watching how the leaves are changing their colors.

Poem of the week
At the top of My Voice
When I stamp
The ground thunders,
When I shout
The world rings,
When I sing
The air wonders
How I do such things.

What Was Happening?
We focused on letter “D” this week. We learned how to trace, color, sound, and discover different items that start with this week’s letter, the letter “D”. We made the letter “D” craft, and we placed our sample on the wall outside our classroom. We are still watching our tree leaves how they change color/status. The leaves are already turned dry and their color is turning to dark green. We had fun time counting our fingers (1-10). Our palms felt funny when we counted 🙂 This week’s story for reading comprehension was “Pete The Cat the Wheels on the Bus” by James Dean. We answered “What book did we read?” and ” Who was the story abut?” questions. We also extended our comprehension on core words in which we continued our learning of the core word “I”, and for that purpose, we used “I have feelings” book. We made a poster of this book and placed it on the wall outside our classroom. We had a great time in Gym, Art, and Music.
Congratulations for our friend, Hanin A. Hanin was selected as the student of the month of September, and she was awarded a certificate for displaying the character trait: Respect. Good job Hanin 🙂

Poem of the week
Gray Squirrel
Hurry, hurry, scamper, scurry,
Little squirrel all gray and furry.
Find an acorn; crack it, crunch it,
Nibble, nibble, munch, munch, munch it.
Find another, fat and round,
To bury quickly in the ground.
Gather nuts-don’t stop to play!
For winter winds are on the way.

What Was Happening?
In this week, the letter “C” was our focus. We worked on letter “C” worksheets in which we learned how to trace the letter “C”, how to color pictures that start with letter “C”, and we also made “C is for car” samples. We picked some of our pictures that start with the letter of the week and hung them on the wall outside our classroom. We are still working on counting numbers 1-10 in math. Since Fall started on Thursday the 22nd of September, we will be observing how tree leaves change their color for science class. We made a tree out of construction paper and filled it with natural green leaves. We will keep an eye on these leaves while they change their color. For reading comprehension, we used “Pete the Cat The Wheels on the Bus” by James Dean. We worked on answering “What book did we read?” and “Who was the story about?”. We continued with our core word “I” by reading “I have Feelings” . We enjoyed our time with Ms. Nada (Art), Mrs. Reed (Music), and Mr. Borg (Gym).
