Exploration the week of 04/18/2022

Greetings Friends & Families!

Poem of the week

(for the love of our planet. Earth Day is on 04/22/2022)

Valentine for Earth

Oh, it will be fine to rocket through space

And see the reverse of the moon’s dark face,

To travel to Saturn or Venus or Mars,

Or maybe discover some uncharted stars.

But do they have anything better than we?

Do you think, for instance, they have a blue sea

For sailing and swimming?

Do the planets have hills with raspberry thickets

Where a song sparrow fills

The summer with music?

And do they have snow to silver the roads

Where the school buses go?

Oh, I’m all for rockets and worlds cold or hot,

But I’m wild in love With the planet we’ve got!

What was Happening?

Letter T was our focus on this past week. We worked on our mini letter T book in which we picked our pictures that start with this week’s letter, the letter T, and glued them inside. We also made a tree  out of construction papers which represents our letter of the week, the letter T. We also had our poster posted outside our room to represent our letter of the week, the letter T. We colored our “That Is Letter T” book. Our reading comprehension question was “What book did we read?”, therefore, we have been reading “ A Little Book About Spring” book, written by “Leo Lionni”. We are still practicing our core word “STOP”, and we have been reading “”Stop” Said the Cop” book.

We have been learning our opposites in math, while we learned about living or nonliving things in science.

The explorers visited the Gym, the music room, and the Art room, as well.

Since the Earth Day is on 4/22, and for the love of our planet, the Earth, the explorers did a scavenger hunt this week. They visited other classrooms at Howe school and collected items that support different ways on how we can help our planet to stay clean, green, and available for all of us! Big thanks to all of the teachers who helped our students to enjoy their scavenger hunt, as well as big thanks to the teachers who accepted to invite us to their rooms but we couldn’t make it. Appreciate all of you 🙂
