Wednesday 2/19/2025

We discussed yesterday’s White Man’s Burden/ Black Man’s Burden, and then went over the forms of imperialism and the methods of control (page 780). We also filled in a chart over the positives and negatives of imperialism in Africa. *Ch. 26 + Ch. 27 sec. 1-2 Test tomorrow!*

Tuesday 2/18/2025

After reviewing the Congo Free State, students completed document C and D from last week over technology and resources. We also looked at the ABCs for Baby Patriots, then students were given time to complete the White Man’s Burden/ Black Man’s Burden handout.

Friday 2/14/2025

We discussed the answers to Wednesday’s background essay, and then students completed the Document A + B questions, which we also discussed. We then watched a clip over rubber and the Belgian Congo.

Wednesday 2/12/2025

We finished up our maps of Africa and then answered questions over a clip on the Scramble for Africa. We also discussed the vocabulary chart over Ch. 27 sec. 2, and then students were given time to work on the background essay on driving forces of imperialism in Africa.

Tuesday 2/11/2025

We continued with the Scramble for Africa activity. Students worked on their maps, as well as completed the Devilfish cartoon and the Rhodes Colossus cartoon.

Monday 2/10/2025

The Ch. 27 sec. 1-2 Questions were checked at the start of the hour. We then began the guided notes associated with the Scramble for Africa activity. Students also completed the handouts over Social Darwinism and the Berlin Conference.

Wednesday 2/5/2025

We discussed (and watched a clip on) the basic history of Canada, and the students read and completed questions on the Irish Potato Famine. The Ch. 26 sec. 1-3 Textbook Questions were passed back and discussed, also.

Tuesday 2/4/2025

The Ch. 26 sec. 1-3 Questions were collected at the start of the hour. Students completed the Introduction to the British Empire, then we watched a quick clip on the labels UK, GB, England, etc.. Students also answered questions over a quick clip on Australia.

Monday 2/3/2025

We discussed the suffrage movement in Britain, and then watched a clip on the Militant Suffragettes. Students were then given time to work on the CH. 26 sec. 1-3 Textbook Questions — due tomorrow.

Friday 1/31/2025

We reviewed the basics of the Civil War and then students answered questions on a video over the Civil War.
