Thursday 3/20/2025

Vernal Equinox!

We discussed yesterday’s article on the Middle East and the Sykes-Picot Agreement at the start of class. Students then completed questions on a chart over America’s deadliest wars. They were then given time to write a “letter from the trenches.”

Wednesday 3/19/2025

Students took the CH. 29 Test in class. When they finished, they were given time to work on the “How the Middle East Got That Way” article and questions.

Tuesday 3/18/2025

The Ch. 29 sec. 4 Questions were checked and discussed. Students completed the WWI Peace Agreements handout and received a copy of the CH. 29 Study Guide. Ch. 29 Test tomorrow!

Monday 3/17/2025

We went over the answers to Friday’s Battle of the Somme handout, and then discussed the USA’s entry into WWI, including the Zimmerman Telegram. We also discussed the end of the war and the Spanish Flu. Students were then given time to work on the CH. 29 sec. 4 Textbook Questions — due tomorrow.

Friday 3/14/25

Pi Day!

Students watched the Ch. 29 sec. 3 Part 1 Textbook Talkie and the Ch. 29 sec. 3 Part 2 Textbook Talkie videos and answered the corresponding questions. They then answered questions over the Ch. 29 sec. 4 Textbook Talkie.

Thursday 3/13/25

We discussed yesterday’s questions on rats and lice in the trenches, and then finished All Quiet on the Western Front. Students were then given time to work on a handout over the Battle of the Somme.

Wednesday 3/12/25

We began discussing life in the trenches, and we watched another segment of All Quiet on the Western Front.

Tuesday 3/11/25

Students began to answer questions over the 1979 version of All Quiet on the Western Front. We also discussed changes in warfare with WWI.

Monday 3/10/25

We discussed the Balkan Peninsula, and then went over the short term reasons for the start of WWI. Students also answered questions over the CH. 29 sec. 2 Textbook Talkie. We then performed a “play” over the start of the war.

Friday 3/7/25

The Ch. 29 sec. 1-3 Questions were collected at the start of class. We answered questions over the Ch. 29 sec. 1 Textbook Talkie, and then students completed the Long Term handout and the MAIN handout. They were also given time to complete handout over the Balkan Peninsula.
