Chess Club Pizza Party Friday, May 5th from 3:35-4:15 p.m.

Dear chess club students and parents,

This Friday, I will have a pizza party to celebrate the season from 3:35-4:15 p.m.  To start the party, I will hand out the awards.  I will then get the students pizza, pop, and chips to eat while they play chess games for the rest of the time.  I would greatly appreciate it if you could plan to pick up your child as soon as we are finished.

I want to thank all of the students for joining the team this season!!  I also want thank all of the parents for allowing your child/children to come out for the team!!  I though it was a success again this year!!!  They ALL learned how to play the game and improved throughout the season.  My hope is that all the 4th graders will come out again next year and that the 5th graders try to join their middle school team in 6th grade.

Thanks again,

Frank Haliburda

Physical Education Class for the Week of May 1st-5th

This week, the Kindergarten-3rd grade grade classes will start my softball unit.  They will start the unit by learning and practicing throwing and catching in a variety of ways.  The 4th-5th grade classes will start out the week by taking the skeletal system (4th) and the muscular system (5th) test on google classroom.  I will then let them play a game with the remaining time left in the class.  Then for the final class of the week, they will run a half mile outside to practice for the presidential mile run, if the weather is nice enough.  To finish the class, I will have them start my softball unit.

Physical Education Class for the Week of April 24th-28th

This week, I had the Kindergarten-2nd grade classes practice their locomotor skill (skipping) for the 4th marking period in a variety of ways.  They used it during the warm-up and during each of the tagging games we played.  The 3rd grade classes had a game day for the first class, because we are between units.  Then for the second class of the week they learned and played a kickball game.  I am using the kickball game as a lead-up to the last unit, which is softball.  The 4th-5th grade classes reviewed the skeletal system (4th) and the muscular system (5th) for the first class of the week. Then for the second class of the week they took a quiz on them on google classroom.  I was able to let them play a game for the rest of the classes when we they were finished.

Physical Education Class for April 17th-21st JRFH Stations

This week every class will be practicing jump roping in a variety of ways during the JRFH event/stations.  The classes will be doing this during each of their P.E. classes for the week.  The event/station days next week will be fun and tiring at the same time!  The students will have the opportunity to go to the drinking fountain anytime during the event/stations.  They can also take a rest, as needed at their station.  My hope is the students will have fun while jumping rope for a great cause!  The final day the donations will be accepted will be Friday, April 28th.
