Dearborn Elementary Fitness Test Grading Criteria

Hello,

I’m attaching our Dearborn Elementary Fitness Test Criteria below. This can be used as a way to assess your physical fitness level while you’re at home. These skills could be practiced at the end of each week to see what level you’re at. If you don’t meet the level you want, that’s ok. Just keep working and your will eventually reach your desired level. Just keep exercising and having fun on a daily basis!

March 13

Physical Education from home

Hello,

Since school is closed for the next month, I want to make sure you are staying active. Remember that you should get 60 minutes of physical activity each day. To help get you started, click the link below for daily physical challenges. Print the sheet and mark that you have completed the activity. Bring the paper to school when we get back.

The most important thing is to stay active. Keep your body moving!

December 11

P.E. Class for the Week of Dec 9th-13th

This week, I will continue practicing the basketball skills with my 1st-5th grade classes. I will mainly focus on the set shot during the lessons and I will have the classes practice the skill in a variety of ways. During the 2nd class of the week, my 3rd-5th grade classes will play their first sideline basketball game. My kindergarten classes will start my parachute unit this week. They will get to learn and practice multiple activities using the parachute during their classes.

December 3

P.E. Class for the Week of Dec 2nd-6th

My 3rd-5th grade classes will continue play team hand ball during their first class of the week. For their second class of the week they will learn and practice the basketball set shot in a variety of ways. My Kindergarten-3rd grade classes will continue practicing basketball skills during their class/classes this week. I will also have them practice a few locomotor skills (gallop, skip, and slide) when they are playing tagging games.

November 20

P.E. Class for the Week of Nov 18th-22nd

This week, I will continue with my basketball unit. The 3rd-5th grade classes will lean and practice passing in a variety of ways during their first class of the week. To finish the first class of the week, they will play a ten passes game that will be very similar to a basketball game without shooting. During the second class of the week, they will play team hand ball. This is an Olympic sport that uses a combination of basketball and soccer skills. The kindergarten-2nd grade classes will continue my basketball unit this week and will focus on learning and practicing shooing in a variety of ways that will be developmentally appropriate for their ability and grade level.

November 13

P.E. Class for the Week of Nov 11th-15th

This week, I will be focusing on basketball skills with all of my classes. The main skills I will focus on will be the hand dribble and passing. I will have the students learn and practice these skills in ways that will be developmentally appropriate for their grade and skill level.

My 4th and 5th grade classes will also be taking my basketball unit pre-assessment on google classroom this week. Once they take the pre-assessment, I will begin reviewing for the post-assessment throughout the unit.

November 6

P.E. Class for the Week of Nov 4th-8th

This week, I will finish up my football unit with my 3rd-5th grade classes. To finish the unit, all of the students will get to wear a flag football belt and play a flag tag game. They will also practice a football drill that will have the quarterback, center, receiver, and defensive back positions. During the drill, the students will get to pull a flag during the drill to try to stop the receiver from scoring a touchdown. The Kindergarten-2nd grade classes will start my basketball unit this week. The main skill they will all focus on will be the hand dribble. I will have each class practice the skill in ways that will be developmentally appropriate for their grade and skill level.

October 29

P.E. Class for the Week of Oct 28th-Nov 1st

This week, I will continue my hula hoop unit with my kindergarten-2nd grade classes. They will all be practicing my hula hoop relay races during each of their classes this week. The 3rd-5th grade classes will start my football unit this week. This unit will last for 4-5 classes. The main skills I will focus on during the unit will be the throwing and catching. I will also teach them some of the basics of football throughout the unit.

October 22

P.E. Class for the Week of Oct 21st-25th

My kindergarten-2nd grade classes will all start or continue to work on hula hoop skills this week. I have a variety of hula hoop skills that I will have my students practice that will be developmentally appropriate for their age/grade level. My 3rd-5th grade classes will finish up their final soccer games during their first class this week. During their second class, they will play one of my between unit games. The 4th-5th grade classes will also complete a soccer unit review in their journals, before they start the game.
