Physical Education Class for the Week of Oct 16th-20th
This week, I will have my 4th and 5th grade classes run outside. They will both be tested on their 13 min. (4th) and 15 min. (5th) runs. The number of laps will be recorded and will be a grade on their report card this marking period. The distance/number of laps and grade are listed below:
13 min. run 4th grade
Distance miles/Laps – grade
1 1/4 + or 5 + laps – 1
1- 1 1/4 or 4 to just under 5 laps – 2
3/4- 1 or 3 to just under 4 laps – 3
<3/4 or just under 3 laps – 4
15 min. run 5th grade
Distance miles/Laps – grade
1 1/2 + or 6 + laps – 1
1 1/4 -1 1/2 or 5 to just under 6 laps – 2
1-1 1/4 or 4 to just under 5 laps – 3
<1 to just under 4 laps – 4
The students will come back in the gym and play a game if there is still time. If the weather isn’t nice enough to run, I will keep the students inside and play a sideline soccer game. The k-2nd grade classes will continue to practice their locomotor and soccer skills this week.
Physical Education Class for the Week of Oct 9th-13th
I will plan to teach my 3rd-5th grade classes my sideline soccer game during their first class of the week. They will play this modified soccer game during both of their classes this week. The K-2nd grade classes will continue to practice locomotor skills and soccer skills this week. I will have them practice these skills by incorporating them in a variety of activities and games.
Physical Education Class for the Week of Oct 2nd-6th
This week, I will continue to work on the instep kick with all of my classes. The classes will practice the kick in a variety of ways. I will have them practice it during drills and lead-up games. The K-2nd grade classes will also practice their locomotor skill for the marking period in a variety of ways. I will have them practice it during my red-line exercise warm-up and during a variety of tagging games.
