Students will begin learning about measurement this week. We took the Module 2 end of unit test on Friday.


Students will decompose the smaller addend to make an easy 10.

example: 9 + 7 =

*Take one away from 7 making it 6, and then the 9 becomes 10.

Change to 10 + 6 = 16


We will begin Module 2 on Monday. We will continue to focus on turn around facts (commutative property of addition) and begin addition with 3 addends.


We are almost finished with Module 1. This week we will review addition and subtraction story problems. Later in the week the students will take their end of module test.


Students will work on word problems using subtraction. We will also continue to focus on fact families.

We will be taking the mid module assessment this week.

September 2, 2019

Last week we began math. Students have been very responsible with their homework. Almost all of them have returned their math homework and gotten their planner signed. Math homework will come home 3-4 times a week. It is the exact work we do together in class. The goal is for the students to be able to do their homework with minimal help.

September 8, 2019

NWEA math test this week. Students will continue to work on decomposing numbers using number bonds, math counters, linking cubes, and the number grid.
