Ladies of the Islamic Center of America’s Luncheon Committee are excited to announce its
seventh annual scholarship program. Our goal is to aid young Muslim women as they pursue
higher education to accomplish their dreams.
This scholarship application is open to female Muslim women seniors (12th grade) currently
attending Dearborn High, Edsel Ford, Fordson and Crestwood High Schools and have definite
plans to attend college. Students will have the opportunity to compete for a $1000 scholarship
towards college expenses. One recipient will be selected from each high school, and
scholarships will be issued directly to winners.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The scholarship is open to female Muslim high school seniors attending Dearborn High,
Fordson, Edsel Ford, or Crestwood High Schools. Applicants must have plans to attend
college. - The scholarship will be issued in the form of a check to the recipient directly. The ICA will
request prior verification that the student does have plans to attend college post
graduation. Winners must verify identity with the ICA before scholarship can be issued. - Scholarship winners are ineligible for the subsequent ICA general scholarship. All other
applicants will be forwarded for consideration for the general scholarship through the
ICA. - Applicants should demonstrate exceptional merit, leadership, and uphold values of

In accordance with this year’s theme, “Sweet 16!” is a coming of age generally celebrated in
American culture, marking both maturity and the earliest stages of adulthood. While you may
have moved a year or two past your 16th birthday, think back to this special time in your life. In
what ways do you feel you have personally evolved or grew to better yourself as a young
Muslim woman? What aspects about yourself would you still like to improve? What are your
future goals and how will your personal growth help you accomplish them?
Please submit your essay, official transcript, and contact information to Lory Fakih
