Construction Apprenticeship Session 5/11

Wayne RESA is working with MLTAI (Michigan Laborer’s Training & Apprenticeship Institute) to offer a virtual session to explain their apprenticeship training to students. This is a great opportunity for any high school aged student to understand how to get involved in the Construction industry. The Virtual Construction Apprenticeship Session will take place Tuesday, May 11th at 6:00 p.m. Please find attached the link to the flyer.

Career Counseling/Public Safety Career Chat

Some information about the career chat: There will be a public safety career chat on Tuesday, April 25th at 3:30pm. This event included an opportunity for students and parents to hear from the Michigan State Police, FBI, and Fire Department. 

PSAT/ SAT Student Search Program

Next week we will be administering the PSAT/SAT assessments. Students taking the PSAT10 or SAT will have the option to participate in the College Board’s Student Search program which connects students to Scholarship and College Match tools. 
This service is optional and should students choose to participate, the questionnaire must be completed at home prior to taking the exam, it will not be completed in school. To opt-in to the Student Search Program, please follow these steps:

  • visit http://studentsearch.collegeboard.org
  • Click “Connect Now”
  • Sign in to your College Board account. If you do not have a College Board account, you can create one. If you forgot your password, click “Forgot Password”. Dearborn Public Schools does not have access to student accounts and is unable to access account information on your behalf.  Should your student have accessibility issues, please reach out to College Board support at the following phone numbers:

MI State Police Trooper Explorer Program

 The Metro South Post in Taylor is starting a police explorer youth program. In the program, explorers will conduct scenario-based training, community service events, and group events to expose individuals to the law enforcement profession, strengthen relationships with the community, and develops the individuals’ leadership skills. The program provides explorers with Trooper mentorship, scenarios involving ethical decision making, participation in group activity, and recognition of achievement. The program provides career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience.
