***Friday, November 6th***

Hey there Team 5th Grade Families!

I just wanted to let you know that I will not be conducting live Zoom lessons, or learning labs, tomorrow (Friday) November 6th, as I will not be available.  NOTE: Learning labs with other teachers, band, or any special classes are still scheduled.

However, students will have school and are expected to go into Schoology to work on the assignments I have created for them in their Friday folder. I suggest they start their day at the time they normally do, 8:55am, and begin their assignments.

Thank you so much for your continued support with our collective efforts to deliver high quality instruction, remotely.  Your help, as always, is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

Have a wonderful day!

Respectfully,

Mr. D

Since the conferences are VIRTUAL, simply log on with you and your student using their Schoology account (As always, I am inviting the students to join the conference as well). Next, all you have to do is click the “Join Live Zoom Session” like your student does every morning from our materials page. At that time you will “enter” a waiting room. Once the conference prior to yours concludes, I will then admit you into the conference.

Out of respect to all of our families, please do your best to be on time for the conference.

I am SO excited to be able to talk with you, and share some great information about your student with you! I also look forward to learning MORE about your student from you as well!

With so much respect,

Mr. D

In-Person Open House Canceled…But Check this Out!

Good evening 5th Grade Families!

There will be no in person open house at any of the Dearborn schools due to the current pandemic. There will be extra time added to parent teacher conferences which will be held virtually to allow more time for teachers to meet with parents. However, the Snow Staff has proactively created a bitmoji slideshow to share with parents and students.

Enjoy the slide-show, and please share it with your children!

Girls on the Run is BACK!

A message from Ms. Barakat:

Do you have a 3rd-5th grade girl that could use some outdoor activity after a day at school? Girls on the Run has opened a team at Snow Elementary with limited spots available! Practices will be Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-5:15pm, starting October 6! Trained coaches will be partnering to lead these girls through this amazing youth development program with a running focus – all modified to keep girls socially distant and safe. Group will be limited to 12 in order to stay spaced out. Check out gotrdetroit.org for safety and general program info. Register for the team at https://bit.ly/3hXoxlgGirls on the Run is so much fun!

REMINDER: NWEA Testing Begins Tomorrow!

Hello Team 5th grade familes!

Students will be starting the NWEA test this Wednesday morning, September 23rd. We will begin testing at around 9:15 am.

Students will be testing from home, so please do not help them with the test. However, you can help them with troubleshooting any technical problems that may arise. As always, this data will provide us with information that will help us drive instruction in a more targeted manner, which is why it is imperative we get accurate and authentic results.

Students Should:

Get a good night’s rest

Eat a healthy breakfast

Take the test seriously

Attached is more information regarding the test.
