Fatima made this awesome sign for Care to the Core, thank you for participating, Fatima!
The district has asked that we cancel all Google Hangouts today. Please tell your child.
Good Morning! I sent this out to the students this morning. It’s a great resource.
If you don’t have a Dearborn Public Library card, you can get a temporary one using the link below. This is a great resource because you can access MANY digital and audiobooks on Tumblebooks, bookflix, Overdrive, Hoopla (my favorite for audiobooks) or RB Digital. Check it out!https://dearbornlibrary.org/wordpress/need-a-temporary-library-card/
Thank you Brennan for participating!
Attached is a suggested weekly schedule. Your child can “make a copy” of this and make changes to it if you would like. This is optional but I thought that it may help the students to stay organized. I also posted it on Google Classroom D5 for the students to access. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QDZjkokE0J-qe2p2obBZ_rHFNYwrGOFrKeVhw1hgisw/edit
Ms. Courtright split the students into 2 math groups for her Google Hangout meetings. Below, lists the group your child is in. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Please fill out this form if you would like to reserve a Chromebook on loan for your child. To take the DuVall Chromebook survey, please click here. Please complete this survey by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 24th as this will provide our staff with enough time to prepare the necessary number of Chromebooks based on the anticipated number of requests. The survey above must be filled out in order to make a reservation for a Chromebook on loan – we will not be able to distribute additional on-the spot requests as it takes time to prepare each of the Chromebooks.
Chromebooks must be returned to the school on the first day Dearborn Public Schools reopen after this mandatory shutdown. Students must follow Dearborn Public Schools Acceptable Use policy and guidelines. The family borrowing the Chromebook agrees to understand that they are responsible for any damage to the Chromebook. The Chromebooks on loan are for current DuVall students only. :
Parents will drive up to the bus lane on Francis Street near the preschool door (door 4) on Monday, April 27th. Parent/ Guardians must have a Driver’s ID. A DuVall staff member will bring the parent our Chromebook Loan agreement to the car along with the Chromebook, have the parent sign it, and then collect the signed agreements as a record of our Chromebooks that have been distributed. Please follow the schedule of distribution for classes below so that we can have an orderly distribution of the Chromebooks on loan – there is a limit of one Chromebook on loan per family.

Thank you for following the above guidelines and schedule for distribution to make this process possible as well as for the DuVall staff who will be assisting during processing and distribution days.
On Thursday, April 23rd at 11:00, O.L. Smith will be hosting a Virtual Visit for DuVall’s 5th grade. Your child can join the virtual visit by following the directions below. We know that not every DuVall fifth grader is going to O.L. Smith in the fall and if any of the other schools are hosting virtual visits, we will be sure to pass the information along.
We heard from a few parents that having the entire week’s work would be helpful for tracking your child’s completion of it. Here is a link for each day of the week so that you can print it if you’d like. We will still be uploading each day’s work for the students like last week. I appreciate the questions and suggestions! Hope it’s helpful:

DuVall Continuity of Learning Plan
DuVall Community,
The staff and I miss you all and hope that you and your families are doing well, staying healthy, and staying safe. As our journey with remote learning continues, our district has created a continuity of learning plan that enhances the remote learning curriculum that is being delivered at DuVall Elementary. Starting April 20th, some updates will be taking place. Classroom teachers will continue checking in with their classes using Google Hangouts or Class Dojo and there will be at least 2 live or recorded lessons that will be scheduled during the week. Classroom teachers and Extended Core teachers will be posting office hours on their blog to support families with questions or who need support with the curriculum. Also, a new grading system will be implemented for the 4th marking period in order to provide feedback for the learning that is taking place. In the updated grading system, the following marks will be used:
Meeting (M): A student has high participation levels in remote learning, is routinely submitting assignments and completing learning tasks, and is regularly attending check in/ remote learning sessions.
Progressing (P): A student is submitting most of his or her assignments and attending some of the check ins.
Limited Participation (LP): A student is rarely or not submitting work, rarely or not attending check-in/ remote learning sessions, or has experienced hardship during the time of instruction. Support to assist students who are showing limited participation in remote learning will be offered.
Click Here to see a video clip that helps to explain some of the changes in the 4th marking period.
Extended core classes (Art, Music, Physical Education, and Technology) will now be using the updated grading system for the 4th marking period report cards. Please check the extended core class blogs for more information regarding learning activities:
