DSO

A SYMPHONY OF SCIENCE

Conducted by Michelle Merrill

FACEBOOK LIVE WEBCASTFRIDAY, MARCH 20 AT 10:45 AM ET

Have kids at home or teaching students remotely? Closed schools and social distancing don’t mean losing access to music education: join us tomorrow at 10:45 AM ET for a Watch Party on Facebook Live! Enjoy an archived DSO Educational Concert Series performance from April 2018 along with trivia questions, discussions, and an accompanying Resource Guide based on NAfME and Common Core standards.

Classroom Edition concerts are great tools for students to learn critical listening skills while exploring orchestral music, music history, and composers. We can’t wait to watch with you!

Raz-Kids, Readingeggs, and Mathseeds

Just a reminder:

These websites are a great tool to promote learning at home with minimal effort from the parents and they are fun for the children! I have been checking each child’s progression on these sites throughout the week and wanted to encourage you to try to have your child complete at least one lesson from one of these resources each day! Many of the children are using these sites heavily already! Great job!

Handwriting Practice

STEM at Home

This link has activities you can complete at home and videos you can use to help support STEM learning from home. STEM means Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! These are engaging activities which can help ward off boredom!

Reading Eggs

Readineggs is a great resource to help engage your child in learning from home. They are able to practice phonics, spelling, word families, sight words, and much more. Try to have your child do at least one lesson per day!

A Great Way to Save Paper

This was shared from a parent in our class. They did not want to print a ton of copies, so instead they printed one copy of each worksheet and placed it inside a gallon-sized ziplock bag and then used dry erase markers to complete the work. It wipes away easily and can be reused day after day! Thank you for allowing me to share this picture and this great idea with the class!
