Special Area Assignments

4/27-5/1

Each day, students should focus on one special area. Our special area classes are a great opportunity for students to get a break from core subjects, supplement core subjects, and enrich their lives. We will collect and grade work on a weekly basis.

Monday – Enrichment

Tuesday – Art

You may choose 1 art project from the K-2 projects page on my blog at https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/homeart/k-2-art-prompts/ . New project choices are added every week. Once you have completed a project, take a photo and email it to me at brucep1@dearbornschools.org or send it in a message on Dojo. Feel free to email me, or message me on Dojo with any other questions. You can also show me your project, or ask any questions you may have about your art project by coming to the optional BigBlueButton Hangout on the GP Specials iLearn course on Tuesdays from 2:00-2:45. This sentence is a link to a video that shows how to log in to iLearn. The enrollment code for this iLearn course is bryzs9 .

Thursday – Music

This week we are going to watch a Disney singalong together. You will be watching different songs then siblings in other grades, so you might enjoy watching each other’s. 🙂 We will watch three songs. You can watch it with me here. After you are done, please fill out the google form here. If you enjoyed the singalong and want to see more of it, you can find the rest here.

Links can always be found on my blog at https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/geerparkmusic/. I am always available by email at lograsm@dearbornschools.org. I will be holding office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am to noon. Email me to set up a phone call or video chat during that time.

Friday – PE

Hi boys and girls,

I hope everyone is doing well. This week, please do the warm up below and try my video challenge and activity.

With the start of Ramadan, I know many of you will be fasting.  Please do what you can. I understand how hard it may be. Remember, you can always take a break when you need it. Also, your activity time can be split. You can do 10 minutes in the morning and 10 in the afternoon or evening.  Try doing some exercises in between taking breaks from homework. Count that time toward your 15-20 minutes of being physically active. Also, physical activity has shown to help improve thinking. So, get out, get active and have some fun.

Again, my goal is for you to get 15-20 minutes of physical activity each day. As was mentioned in my last assignment, you should be getting 60 minutes of activity a day. Under our current situation, I am asking you to do 15-20 minutes. There are many ways in which you can achieve that goal, one way is to do my warm up and activity. Others include walking, biking, dancing, playing soccer, football, or basketball. There are so many options. Look through my blog for more great ideas.  Mrs. Masiarczyk’s PE Blog

You must do this:

I will need everyone to fill out the fitness log each day that you are active for at least 15-20 minutes. There are only 5 questions. It is very easy to complete. The fitness log is on my blog, top right corner. Answer the questions and submit. Remember to do this only if you made an effort to be active.

Now let’s get started!

Do these warm up activities before watching my video. Do 10 of each.

Jumping jacks

Scissor kicks

Criss cross jumps

Mountain climbers

Shoulder touches (like ABC shoulders)

Push ups

Jog in place

What you will need:

3 rolls of toilet paper

Small ball or a pair of socks folded into a ball and a bucket or basket.
