Book Mark Assignment

All students will create a book mark based off of their favorite book from the summer reading (book had to be started June 15th, or later).

This is worth 5 of the summative points and will be graded on the following rubric:

Title of Book 1 pt. (on the front)
Author 1 pt. (on the front)
Genre 1 pt. (on the front)
2 completed sentence starters 1 pt. (on the back)
Neatness, creativity and full color 1 p. (on the back)

TOTAL 5 points
This will be presented along with the book talk and counts as the visual portion of your book talk.

Book marks must be sized, 2×8-2×10 inches and would be best done on card stock or other light colored, non-lined paper. Pictures should be hand drawn and fill the page. See examples for ideas.

Last Chance for Final Argument Paragraph Submission

The final argument paragraph was assigned one week ago and due by midnight Wednesday. To date 21 students have not completed this assignment and/or did not submit it properly. I have urged them to take care of this matter for two days now.

Tonight, by midnight, is the last chance to turn it in. If it is not completed by then, it will go in the grade book as a 0/30.
This will have a very negative effect on their final grade for this card-marking.

Please email me ASAP with any questions or concerns.

Final Argument Paragraph

REMEMBER……..your final argument paragraph is due in Google Classroom by 11:59 pm tonight. This is due whether you were at school today, or not. The assignment was given out on Friday and you have had 5 days to complete one paragraph. Please email me with questions, or problems, ASAP. Make sure you have read all directions, blog posts, etc.. before you email and ask about information that has been thoroughly covered.

Tissue Extra Credit

All students were asked to bring in tissue boxes at the beginning of the year and only 5 or 6 did. I decided to give those students 15 extra credit points.

Once other students discovered that they could earn points, I have been receiving more. These students will only receive 10/15 points.

NO tissue will be accepted for extra credit after Monday, October 10th.

With cold and flu season upon us (along with seasonal allergies) we go through about a box every couple of days. If we run out, students will have to bring their own to class as they will not be allowed to go to the restroom just for tissue.

Google Classroom-French Fry Assignment

Today students were given homework for this weekend. They will need to read and highlight a very brief article (given in class) and then use the directions below to complete a short response in Google Classroom. The assignment must be sent to me through google classroom. Students were asked to see me if they had no access to a computer, before leaving today.

After you read and highlight the “French Fry” article, please write a short argument paragraph. You are basically trying to condense the argument from the article.
Your paragraph must contain your claim, 1-2 data and warrant, a counterclaim and a rebuttal. This paragraph cannot be more than 8 sentences. You may take a direct quote from the article and you will have to make inferences from what the text says to complete this task.
This is due by 8:00 Monday, September 26, 2016

Students have been asked to email me with any remaining questions that they have, and to do so sooner than later.

Have a GREAT weekend!!
