Today’s Class: Monday 11/06

  • SAT Bell work BW Mon 11-6
  • I passed back the chapter 1 test and students had 15 minutes to look at their mistakes and decide whether they need to retake it or do corrections on Friday. Students also asked me questions about their responses.
  • Some students had to leave early or come late because of Detroit Mercy meeting. If you missed some of the class time you have to make up the class work. Look below.
  • Students worked on finding the zeros of some polynomial functions Section 2.3 Mon 11-06
  • Homework page 193 # 33-38

Chapter 1 Test Corrections/Retake

  • Tests are graded and the average was around 60% in both classes
  • The highest grade was 88% (Hadil Harajli 3rd hour Great Job!)
  • I will allow you to choose either to make corrections or to fully retake the test
  • You will have a chance to look at your test for 10 min before we start
  • Corrections and test retakes will take place tomorrow in class this is why I will not be assigning any homework for tomorrow except preparing for the retake
  • With test corrections you will only earn half credit back
  • Only 5 points out of 39 were word problems
  • Everything on the test we covered it with our homework and homework feedback/corrections/discussions
  • I highly advise you to go back to each section and redo couple of each set of homework problem
  • For this chapter we did one objective for 2 days
  • Focus on the inverse functions (the rational one #15,16 page 126)
  • Also make sure to review how to find composition of functions (15-22 page 117)
  • For word problems make sure to review section 1.7 and to think about the problem in a real word situation; do not detach it from a real world. For example, some of the answers on the test found a salary before the raise greater than the salary after the raise which is not logical.
  • Read the question VERY CAREFULLY
  • Transformations were easy 8 summative points on the test; make sure to carefully review section 1.6. Many of you lost easy points because they forget to mention reflection over the x axis or vertical strecth…
  • You can review p 137#43-50 I will post a pic of the key at the end of the day. I want you to think about those first before looking at the key.
  • Also make sure to review the 3 rules on how to find horizontal asymptote; these were easy 4 points

Good Luck 🙂
