Foods For Life

fundamental-foods-anderson

food-guidelines

Welcome to second semester-Foods for Life- lifelong culinary skills class. I always get asked what the difference is between the two classes and simply it is a continuation of learning new skills and creating different recipes. The set up is the same the rules are the same. Most of the students are new so we have to back up and reexamine safety, sanitation and revisit rules and routines when in the kitchen.

By now you should have bought a binder and tabs. Attached is the beginning of how to set up your binder. The directions are also on the classroom guidelines sheet also attached. As a parent you should have already read and signed it. Attached is also the class syllabus

Humpty Dumpty

The students had a great time with their egg cook off.
They were taught how to make 6 different types of eggs. Before break they had to pick out of a bowl and make one of them randomly. As a culmination project as a kitchen they picked an egg of their choice and a recipe that fit with it ex. egg salad, french toast, fried egg burger, baked eggs, etc.
It went great! I am very proud of my students!
If your child was absent see the attached.

eggs? EGGS!

Our Protein unit for the next couple of weeks is all about eggs. Students will take an individual practical test on an egg that chose out of a bowl. 1 of the 6 eggs properly demonstrated for them. Hopefully you all are getting breakfast for dinner.

Very Thankful!

Today was a wonderful day for my students, myself and the staff. We were graced throughout the with a demonstration by Amanda Saab who participated on MasterChef last spring. It was a fun day! The Pumpkin Curry Soup with a cranberry relish was delicious! Attached is the link to the recipe:
