Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont.  This book focuses on all the things there are to like about one’s self as well. This literary experience also coincides with our Unique Learning System this month; All about Me. This months unit focuses on what makes us unique and similar as well as body identification and function. Check out the story by clicking the button below.
  • We read and sang about Mat Man to practice body parts and we made our own Mat Man
  • The students worked on their book handling skills.  We practiced turning pages from left to right and pointing to pictures on the pages
  • We worked on comprehension skills by answering who, what, where questions
  • Our letter focus this week was “Dd” The children explored items from our “Dd” box like dog, duck, drum, and donut.
  • We ate donuts, sang dog and duck songs and made paper donuts with real sprinkles
  • We sang counting songs and practiced numbers 1-10

  • Our story this week was Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn by Kendard Pak.  This book beautifully illustrates all the changes in nature as we enter into the season of fall. Check out the story by clicking the button below.
  • The students worked on their book handling skills.  We practiced turning pages from left to right and pointing to pictures on the pages
  • We worked on comprehension skills by answering who, what, where questions
  • Our letter focus this week was “Cc” The children explored items from our “Cc” box like cow, cookies, clock, car, cat and cake,
  • We made cows, cats, ate cookies, and cupcakes
  • We did reading buddies with our Kindergarten friends
  • We celebrated Ms. Sisoy’s birthday
  • We sang counting songs and practiced numbers 1-10

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was Our Class Is A Family by Shannon Olsen.  This upbeat story beautifully illustrates how we use kindness and caring to develop a classroom that feels like home.  We definitely feel like our classroom is a little family of our own as we learn and grow each day together.  Check out the story by clicking the button below.
  • We made a class book called, Me At School.  This very special book illustrates all the different people your child spends time with in school.  
  • Our letter focus this week was “Bb.” The children explored items from our “Bb” box, like bubbles, bears, balloons, band aids, bus, and ball.  
  • We played with balloons, sang birthday songs, played with blocks, bells and bubbles
  • We continued the Unique Learning System unit on School Rules.  
  • We sang counting songs and practiced numbers 1-10
  • We worked on telling the difference between pictures and words
  • The students worked on their book handling skills.  We practiced turning pages from left to right and pointing to pictures on the pages

Newsletter for Week of September 13th

  • Our story this week was Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes. The lesson is attached below for you to use at home with your child.
  • The Rhyming song for this month is Mary Had a Little Lamb. The students use a Big Mack repeater button to sing this familiar song and practice the rhyming words
  • Our letter focus this week was “Aa”
  • The students practiced number recognition and counting with our Apple Tree  interactive book. We counted apples, sorted apples, painted with apples, learned about 1/2 and whole and apple stars, made apple muffins and ate it too!
  • The students worked on their book handling skills.  We practiced turning pages from left to right and pointing to pictures on the pages
  • We continue to study the Unique Learning System unit on School Rules

Reminder

As we prepare for our first full week of school I want to remind everyone that Wednesday is a late start day, with school starting at 9:25 rather than 8:25. Busses will be picking up and hour later on Wednesday morning! Also Friday is a half day, so Students will be dismissed at 11:30.
