Peek at the Week

  • This week was full of November fun.  Our story was, Five Little Turkeys from Hands on Holiday Reading.  This story is obviously a Thanksgiving story. The children love to use the big button to yell out the repeater line, “and they said ‘Hooray!” The story focuses on vocabulary and counting.
  • Our letter of the week was “Jj” We ate jelly beans, jelly and squeezed our own orange juice to drink.
  • We practiced the letter “J” by reading an interactive book and searching in our mystery box for things  that start with the letter “J,”  and sang letter “J” songs
  • The children practiced counting, number recognition, and one to one correspondence with the story Five Little Turkeys
  • We worked on comprehension skills by answering who, what, where questions
  • We continued the Unique Learning System Unit, From Here to There. The subject focus is physical science.

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie, by Alison Jackson.  This familiar pattern book switches all she swallows to Thanksgiving favorites. The children took turns playing the Little Old Lady as we stuffed her full of Thanksgiving goodness. The students also took turns narrating the repeating line, “I don’t know why she swallowed the pie, perhaps she’ll die.” Click on the button below and enjoy the story at home with your child
  • We made pumpkin pie pudding. Some of us liked and some of us did not!
  • We painted and assemble pies out of paper plates and then made them smell delicious with cinnamon and nutmeg
  • We made ice cream in a bag for the letter I
