Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar. We love Pete the cat. Pete goes on a fun bug safari and finds a caterpillar. His parents help him build a home for his new tiny friend. What a fun story to learn about the life cycle of a butterfly
  • We painted the life cycle of a butterfly
  • We practiced identifying the color orange
  • We learned about telling time and practiced identifying the number 2
  • We ordered caterpillars and they came on Tuesday. Looks like we have 3 healthy, hungry caterpillars of our own. They have already doubled in size!

Peek at the Week

  • Our story this week was, We’re Going On A Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen. This story coincides with our studies from ULS this month on Landforms. This is one of the classic stories of childhood; fun to read and even more fun to act out. It is rich in vocabulary and activities for learning, and is beautifully illustrated by the award winning artist, Helen Oxenbury
  •  We went on Bear Hunts using the song, We’re going on a Bear Hunt by Greg and Steve.  The students love this action packed song as we move through grass, a river, a bridge, and into a cave
  • We made decorations for the Holy Month of Ramadan
  • We learned about the color red
  • We practiced and learned about the number 1
  • We practiced reading and learning about words and signs we see in our environment

HEALTH DEPARTMENT GUIDANCE UPDATE: COVID 19

Today, our district received a change in quarantine period from the health department. Given the increase in positive cases and the problems the variants are causing (variant B.1.1.7 is now the prominent virus in Michigan)- Wayne County Health Dept has issued a change in guidance.

A close contact will now be required to quarantine for 14 days from the last date of contact from the positive person.

A quarantine can be avoided:

  • if a person is fully vaccinated (at least 2 weeks past their final dose of vaccine) OR
  •  if they have a documented, PCR positive Covid test in the last 5 months.

A 10-day sick isolation still remains for those who have tested positive for covid.

Thank you for your continued support and communication to keep our school community healthy!
